Switzer would be a nice steal but what this team needs is Defense, Defense, Defense. I pray the DB's and Taco are the real deal. The lack of discussion regarding Taco so far concerns me.

I'm mildly concerned, although with Taco practicing without pads and against Tyron Smith, my expectations are extremely meager to begin with. The better part of all of this is that we won't have to wait too much longer to get a clearer idea of what Taco is and/or isn't. Seeing him in action against others should afford us a better idea of what to expect from him. Anyway, I'm keeping my expectations at arm's length, what with him being merely a rookie, however. I look to him for run support more than anything else. My hopes are resting just a bit more on those like Damontre Moore, Irving or Maliek for pass rush pressure this year.

I am sure you didn't say this when the first Switzer showed up with Dallas, I know I sure didn't. But hey, he still won a Lombardi with Jimmy's team.

Taco is the type of guy that isn't going to look particularly good in OTA's and minicamps. I know they say it is difficult to tell about the OL and the DL when they're not in pads but that doesn't adequately describe Charlton's situation.

First off, I don't trust the media to watch practice and actually know what they're seeing. They'll pick out the INT's and TD's just like anyone would... but as far as line play, I just don't think they really know what they're looking at beyond just flash.

Which leads me back to Charlton. He isn't one of the small, quick edge rushers that you can see running around the tackle, even in shorts. No, Taco's game is going to be strength, length, leverage, and smarts. What he does so well are all of the things that he can't really do until the pads come on. He's a physical guy who, while he is really quick for his big size, simply isn't going to win with speed. He'll win with strength and leverage along with his pretty good quickness.

That isn't anything to be down on Charlton about either. Plenty of great pass rushers used length and strength way more than speed to get there. Reggie White, Mike Strahan, Bruce Smith, Too Tall Jones, Harvey Martin... and plenty of others. The way Von Miller and Reggie White got to the QB is completely different, but both ways ended up with sacks.

I'm not saying Taco will be great or anything... I'm just saying that he was never going to stand out in OTA's with his skillset. And I'm saying that skillset is a good one to have when playing DE. Will he be great or not? I don't know... that is up to Taco and the coaches.

Landon Collins was last years draft day steal. Ooooops 2 years ago
Ha! Landon Collins!! Why would you say that!!:):muttley:. Maybe this off season the FO will steal...Zack Orr!! That is one FA that is worth a serious look. Great insurance and a good fit in Dallas. Young and talented.

I think this draft will be successful. Might be a few starters. We'll see.
Yep. Some good looking talent there. Those DB's look real...may need a couple of years to develop but at least they are coming to Dallas with some decent potential. I like Charlton too...its a question of development and TIME!

Agreed. Expectation are the real killer for fans. Charlton will need some time. He may well develop into a fine player for the Cowboys. I too really want players like Moore or Collins to have an impact on the DL. Moore is my project presently lol. I love those half crazy DE's. That type of DE is exactly what this defense needs, a nasty, dirty, bloodthirsty has been missing for years. I know he is a long shot but it would be sweet if Marinelli and friends could turn him around.

Carr is a stud, PJ. But I don't want to do this again with you

BTW, to those that need to see more of Dak, let them! And let them watch in awe, brudda :)
I like Carr too. He's a great young Quarterback. The problem is that I have to hear about him everyday because the Raiders are my buddy's team. He has a tortured soul
