I am just saying we had him as the number 1 tight end. Obviously he was and the scouts were right.

In this particular case, the war room discussion was apparently between LaPorta and Mazi and they chose Mazi. Early returns aren't great but we shall see.

But this isn't a case of "that guy was available, we should have taken him." This was the actual choice they were making (and LaPorta was apparently higher on the board).
