So it's out. The league gets a big-time opener for the Cowboys, with the loaded-up Browns hosting Dallas. And it'll be another AFC opponent for Texas Stadium's regular-season finale, against Baltimore on Sat., Dec. 20.
Some other things of note here ...
-- The Cowboys, for one reason or another, did not max out on primetime games. The league allows a maximum of six. Dallas has five on its schedule, which allows for the league to flex one of the team's late-season games into the NBC primetime slot.
-- The first shot at the Super Bowl champs doesn't come until Nov. 2. Why? Well, that's sweeps week for the networks, and with FOX not too happy about some of the marquee Cowboy games going to NBC last year, this matchup was likely arranged at Rupert's request. Let's just say placing America's Team in the capital of the world against the Super Bowl champs is one heck of a bone to throw Mr. Murdoch. As a result, NBC gets the other Cowboys-Giants game, in Dallas, on Dec. 14.
-- If you're worried about December again, maybe you should be. Trips to Pittsburgh and Philly will be no cakewalk, and the stakes could be high in both. Sandwiched between those two is the aforementioned home game against the Giants, and another homer with an ornery, talented Baltimore team that could be poised to bounce back. Clearly, if the Cowboys are going to reverse the recent trend of December debacles, they'll have to earn it.
-- The Cowboys' bye comes after nine games, and is probably in about as ideal a spot as they could hope. It breaks up two division road trips, and gives the team a chance to recharge for the stretch run.
-- Putting Seattle on Thanksgiving is hardly a surprise. And that has nothing to do with Julius Jones or Ken Hamlin. Trust me on that. It's more about the unattractive look of the Cowboys' non-division, intraconference schedule. The Bucs and 49ers aren't exactly ratings grabbers these days. At least with Seattle, there's a team that's been a consistent winner, with an outgoing coach (Holmgren) and, of course, the Tony Romo storyline.
We'll be back with more as we go this afternoon.

A few personal notes about the schedule. Glad to be going to Green Bay in September rather than December. However, sad we won't see Brett Favre anymore.
Also, hate night games. The Cowboys have four of them, especially two in September. Deadline pressures, less time in the locker room and coming home late are the reasons why I hate them. You come home really late if you hang out with Al B. Sure after a game.
Also, excited about seeing Chad Johnson and the Bengals on Oct. 5. Pacman vs. Ocho Cinco. Great matchup. Wonder if T.O. will put a sign up in his locker before the game like he did last season before the big matchup with Moss.
Going back home, NYC, to check out Big Blue and the Cowboys on Nov. 2. Should be fun.
It will be good to see Julius Jones (Seattle) again on Thanksgiving. I'm sure Ken Hamlin will be excited to see the 'Hawks. Could have playoff implications. In Pittsburgh in December. Not fun. Snow, cold, wind, fog, tunnels, hills. Slow driving. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Pittsburgh, though I lived there for a few years. If the Pitt Panthers are in town, might stop by to see Phil Bennett, the former SMU coach, who is the DC at Pitt.
The last home game at Texas Stadium, regular season that is, is against the Ravens. Don't like that. It should be against the Giants or Commanders. A divisional rival. At Philly to close the season is cool.
Off the top of my head, I got 12 wins for the Cowboys.
