Meh. He's a little slow and seems to be a liability in coverage. That said, he does play hard and is not frankenstein like LVE was in his last years.

I was hoping Micah could be a Ray Lewis type MLBer...silly me. He's gotta get his sacks for his podcast.

They literally drafted Liufau to take over at mike.
Ok. And I wish him the best. But he hasn’t proven himself yet. My point was that LB may still be a big need going into 2025. Maybe not but in my mind counting Liafau as having a proven future is a little early.

The annual Jaylon Smith award. Can be very misleading.

I will give Kendricks some credit part of the reason he has high tackle numbers is because he is instinctive and willing. More than can be said for some of our guys. He is a solid average player at this point in his career. Nothing wrong with that.
yeah, didnt Eugene Lockhart get crazy tackling #'s every year but it just meant the line couldnt stop anyone

So when you look at that list the thing that stands out to me is that all of these top players are on teams with defenses that are questionable at best. So are they leading the league in tackles because they are just playing the position so well or is it more due to the fact that the defense is on the field for extended drives leading to more opportunities to make tackles.
Or is it because no one else is making plays.

I was never impressed with all of LVE's tackles 5+ yards down the field.

I remember Eugene the hitting machine Lockhart set a Cowboy record for tackles in a 3-13 season, 5 yards down field.
This is totally accurate and why that is not a great stat. I searched and could not find the clip of a drunk Pat Summerall saying, "Eugene, Eugene the Lockhart." when he made a tackle during a broadcast. I know I heard it. Not downgrading Summerall at all because he was awesome.

On the bright side, the Cowboys leading tackler is a LB.

The sign that a defense is bad isn't your LB being a league leader in tackles. It is when someone in the secondary is leading your team in tackles.
