Let me get this right.......we have one of the highest caps but we don't spend money. So most of our money is pretty much spent on one or two players. The rest get crumbs

We have one of the highest caps? What does that even mean? All teams have the exact same cap limit. The franchise is worth more yes, but that doesn’t help with the teams cap.

why is this news to anyone? when you are the top 3 drafting team in the NFL for pro-bowl and all-pro players beside the ravens and packers then yes, it will be expensive to keep your own

our payroll is always low because we pay our own players...this is the stupidest take ever

everyone knows on this forum if you are drafted in round 1-3 by the cowboys and play above average you will be signed to a lucrative deal by the team

You guys really don’t understand?

The owners of this team don’t spend money. They’re cheap. Everywhere. Doesn’t matter what the subject is, when it comes to spending, they don’t do it. Many of us have been trying to explain these things to you guys, here is another example, another person trying to do the same thing, and y’all still don’t get it.

Jerry already spent the money. His MO is Paying money up front in in Signing Bonus and prorating it for accountancy purposes. But yes, this happens as a result of 'liking our own' and having to overpay to stop rookies from hitting the open market.....we then have JAG money for the majority of the roster.

Rather than spending money, our biggest problem is evaluating our own talent which is coupled with Jerry's total inability to be able to trade.

Post aside, this team really doesnt spend money - especially if it is paying someone who is no longer at the facility. You saw it with Garrett, McCarthy (1 yr deal), not cutting Zeke, not cutting/trading Tyron, not for new FA. They find the players they draft that have sold the most jereys and pay them. Its worked fair as Lamb, Micah, Tyler Smith have been productive, but now. top heavy is about to send this thing spiraling

So I'm not saying that the tweet is incorrect, however it is important to look at team payroll over a 3-4 year period when making a conclusion. Dak's contract is the perfect example of why this is important....

Year 1 of Daks current deal he only carried a $17M cap hit, but Jerry paid him $75M in cash up front so their payroll was likely significantly higher that year.

Fast forward to this year Daks Cap hit is $55M, but he is only on the payroll for $30ish.

If someone had data for a running average over a multi year period that would hold a lot more weight for this conversation.

What does this actually mean...if they have the lowest available cap and the lowest payroll does that mean a lot of dead money or something accounting wise?

What the Cowboys need is a front office with the ability to manage their budget well enough to avoid catastrophe. Who knew?! :omg:

H-m-m, perhaps billionaires aren't well suited for that task? Are they not able to get into the habit of managing money effectively??
