I'm not sure there is a designated date for it or not. The NFLE season starts March 18th.

Thank you sir.
I'm not at all sure how anything with NFLE works. How do the NFL teams decide which team their players go to? Or do the NFLE teams get to "draft" the NFL players going?

I just don't know much about it at all.

There is a draft where the teams select who will play with them and yes there is a designated date to declare.

I just don't know when that is.

Hopefully the NFLE teams still will be training in FL. It is very fun watching them practice at high schools, like my old one. They deserve better but the NFL doesnt seem to wanna shell out the cash. So our players occasionally get to watch them and we watching the Rhein Fire last year, hopefully we get the team Henson is on this year.

There is a draft for players that are not allocated by the NFL (free agents like Akili Smith last year) as well.

Teams have already begun to allocate players to play over there, but they will not be drafted until the second week in February. Punters and kickers are assigned later.

so let's see......

1. players are allocated as a last chance to show something in the nfl
2. others are "drafted" to help complete the rosters from FA's who didn't make it
3. each team must have a % of local players on the roster
4. coaches? we'll figure that out later.

sounds very organized, and a great place for someone to play! : )

the sad fact is it may be hensens last stand, but man - what a lousey situation to be in.

There's also a wink and nod agreement where a player can be "drafted" by the NFLE team that his NFL team feels is the best option for one reason or another.

We'll see a bunch of players signed within the next month or so just so teams can meet their allocation requirement numbers. Witness Dallas signing Willie Blade last year just to send him to Europe.

BTW Has anyone heard how he's doing with his rehab? I still have some hope for him as a NT backup.

Actually there is exception to that rule I think. From what I know, QBs are allocated to certain teams or teams that NFL wants them to play in. Not necessarily every QB maybe, but I know, Hutchinson was given to the team he played for in NFLE.

SOme teams have already announced what players they have allocated to NFLE each team is required to allocate 6. Dallas has not yet announced what players they will allocate.

Nope, I believe the number is 3, since I think thats how many Cowboys allocated last year. But I know its not 6 though, unless they have rule change this year.

Dude your wrong
The is from the NFL Europe website....

Frequently asked questions:

How do I get a tryout with NFL Europe or attend a combine or training camp?

NFL Europe does not hold open tryouts. The majority of our players are scouted and obtained from the NFL training camps. If a player does not have NFL training camp experience, they can send a resume by mail or fax to the NFL Europe office in New York. This should contain the player's height, weight, speed, position(s), previous experience, contact numbers, references (former coaches), and any other pertinent information.

Each year NFL clubs assign a minimum of six players from their rosters to participate in NFLE. The Allocation Program, as it has become known, has gained tremendous success over the years. In 2001 more than 200 NFL players participated in the program.

I haven't paid too much attention to NFLE in the past either, but if Henson is allocated I will probably watch all of his games. I really do hope they send him, he needs some playing experience and, as Bill is fond of saying, if you can't hack it in Europe you aren't going to make it here.

I think our six should be:

1. Henson - Please, please, please.
2. Curtis - Need to see if he has a future.
3. Crowder - He really needs some experience as a receiver.
4. Rector - As a cornerback
5. Tarullo - Needs experience too.
6. Suisham - More looks to see if he is worth bringing back.

Kincade and Snell will probably go as well.

I would not send any defensive players other than Rector as most clubs there will not run the same system we will.

Pretty good list and a good call on the defense too.

I wouldn't mind sending some of our younger CB's. Playing CB from one system is pretty much the same....

Well that doesn't mean anything dude. Here is list of players allocated last year and notice Bengals only did 3 and cowboys only 4. Seems like St. Lious didn't do any. Although it does seem like Cowboys orginally allocated 5.

Seems like that FAQ is not exactly true.
