Can someone please explain to me why?
Why can't we resign him?
Why can't he be given an opportunity to compete and earn the starting spot over Free.
Why would he take a guaranteed starting spot (don't believe that) on a non contending team, over a chance with a SB team?

You omitted the financial aspect of Flo's release. Flo's salary cap figure is/was significantly higher than Free's, and Free is a cheaper, perhaps equal replacement.

I omitted it because it already happened. Now lets get him back at a reasonable # and create competition and depth at the LOT spot.

It's called pride. I doubt Flo's would let him take a backseat, and that's where he'd be unless he was demonstrably better than Free, which he isn't anymore.

He'd be nice insurance, but I doubt he has the personality to be that kind of guy, which is a big reason he's gone.

I think Chris Williams is the starting LT next year for the Bears. I could see them bringing Flo in, but I'd move Williams to LT and give Flo a shot to start at RT.

Asking a long term left tackle like Adams to switch sides is a foolish exercise. Plus there is the hearing issue.

I would love to have Flo back in a backup role but I can't blame him for wanting to start and if a team like the Bears or Bills are willing to let him play as a starting Tackle then he should go for it. Life in football is short take advantage of what comes your way
