Worse. If there's no sure fire QB at least a top notch tackle where they get paid those kinds of bucks when they're good.

Like Miami when they grabbed Long.

I honestly think Carolina should go CB with Peterson, at least CB gets paid that kind of cheddar on the FA open market.

At least get a player that plays a position where the big bucks are commanded and has the highest rating in the draft out of all the talent.

If Newton and Gabbert are gone by their pick, they won't be picking one in the first round.

How was Jimmy Clausen a "system" QB? Just wondering why you'd say something like that. I can't see them taking Gabbert, but Cam Newton wouldn't be a bad choice. Loads of potential and can sell it to the fan base when there's not a clear cut #1 out their.

Didn't Miami pass on Matt Ryan to take Long?

Yes, because he was not a clear cut #1 overall and Parcells took the safer pick in the tackle.

He was scared to pay a player $40 million guaranteed and not know if he'd be a player.

Now that everyone see's what Matt Ryan is, surely that wouldn't have been a bad #1 pick.

Long wasn't either though. But QB is more important.

Who knows what Matt Ryan would look like though playing for Miami. Doubt he would have started off so well.

But that's why it's such a bad draft for Carolina because there is no QB rated as high as Ryan was, even though teams weren't to sure on Ryan that year. Also there is no blue chip tackle to pick if you want to pass on the QB.

But there is a very good corner and some intriquing d-linemen. For the money they have to pay the top pick they're better off taking the corner since he's playing a position that commands as much money as any position minus QB. As well he pretty much is the highest rated player in the draft and is as pro ready as any.

Do they wanna build their defense around a corner though?
