NFLN to air CFL games in July

Good, we will finally get to see all those former Cowboys WRs play. Go Blue Bombers!

I can see the business case for this...

I doubt this is directed much at the U.S. audience, as much as for our northern neighbors.

The NFL network pulls in the Canadian audience, and then hopes to siphon more of that audience into watching more NFL games next fall.

NFL Network to air Canadian Football League games

The NFL Network continues to load up on non-NFL programming.

14 Canadian Football League games will be shown from now until early November, starting with a Thursday night game, July 1. (Montreal @ Saskatchewan.)

We don't know much about the CFL other than Chris Berman highlights, but the game
features three downs instead of four, 12 men aside instead of 11, and a playing field that 65 yards wide and 110 yards long, with end zones 20 yards deep.

We also get the impression the caliber of football is higher than the Arena Football League, which the NFL Network also airs.

Of course, I won't be able to watch any of the action because I just moved to an apartment without a clear view of the southern sky. (I'm not going to get over this and don't care who is at fault. Work it out with Time Warner. It's a total embarrassment the league-owned network still isn't available in the city the league headquarters is based in. Sorry.)

Go Alouettes!

I saw dcfanatic post this earlier.........................

I really don't care much for the Canadian game, although it's hard for me to explain why. OK, the level of talent is far below that of the NFL, but I can still enjoy a Division II college game, or even a high school game, if I have a rooting interest in a team.

I don't care what happens when Edmonton plays Toronto, or how close the CFL passing title is between Anthony Calvillo and Ricky Ray. I'd rather watch Arena Ball, because I might have some like or dislike of the cities involved, or I can transfer my hatred on that city's NFL team and fandom onto their Arena Team. (May the fans of any Philly team never enjoy a winning season in any sport, ever) I'd rather watch grass grow, because I have in interest in when I'll have to mow the lawn again. I'd rather watch beach volley ball, because I have a rooting interest in...OK, I just like to watch athletic women who are 95 percent naked jump around.

At least the CFL is more exciting than soccer.

I enjoy the cfl and am glad they are broadcasting it

That's a pretty cool idea. It's better than an entire off-season of NFL Total Access reruns.

Not that I can get NFLN on Time Warner. :(

Hopefully Jesse Holley can join them soon.

They should just air every playoff game ever played in the Super Bowl era.
