DALLAS -- The NFL gets to cash its $4 billion in TV checks.

The union gets about $7 million in damages from the league.

Both sides claimed victory Tuesday after a special master ruled on the NFL Players Association's complaint that the league improperly negotiated TV contracts, part of legal maneuverings connected to negotiations for a new labor deal.

You've got to be kidding me if the NFLPA thinks they've won anything when they get $7 million as compared to $4 billion, and then immediately mention that they plan to file an appeal? :lmao:

Strike another win for the NFL on this. The continued legal wrangling by the NFLPA would look worse than it does already if they hadn't agreed to start negotiating already. They see the impasse coming, and know they're on the losing side of that equation.

If my math is right, and I'm no math guy, but that's the equivalent of if you make $65,000 a year you just lost $114.

Great victory NFLPA. Keep on keepin' on.

They didn't get $7 million "as compared to" $4 billion.

The NFL didn't win any money they didn't already have -- they signed the TV contract long ago, and the players will share those profits, too. The ruling just allows the owners to cash the checks now instead of later.

The players were only seeking less than 2% of that $4 billion, and got about 10% of the damages they were asking for. The ruling that the owners negotiated the TV deal in bad faith was the key win, not the dollar figure.
