Does players have to be a part of the players association?

I remember playing MLB games a while back and Barry Bonds was never included in the game because he did not associate with the MLBPA.

Can NFL players do the same? I know Bonds was pretty much the only guy that was going that route at the time so it must not be the best decision but given the option of no pay, wouldn't it be wise for players to opt out?

Just wondering because I saw an ESPN article where the NFLPA is telling the players to save their last checks for the lockout.

I don't believe anyone can be forced to join a Union, but I know the backlash if you don't has to be horrendous. Players who crossed the picket lines in 1987 caught it from the rank and file.

If the Union decertifies as they plan to I'm not sure it would matter if the players are anyway. I wonder how many would cross just because they love the game?

I hope we never find out and they get this stupid CBA done.

I can't imagine a situation in which there are no Sundays.

If the Union decertifies, who would the owners negotiate with?

I can't remember exactly but wasn't Randy White one guy who never went on that 87 strike, or did he cross the picket line??
