I'm not sure how to process this, especially with his new contract.

NFL’s most targeted CBs by situation: Paulson Adebo, DaRon Bland and more

How often a cornerback is targeted is a good indication of what opposing offenses think of that player. Generally, if a cornerback is targeted frequently, it means the quarterback believes they can beat them with regularity.

Snap shares and coverage schemes can be influencing factors in the counting stats, but with a meaningful sample size, a high target rate can be an indication of a weak link in the secondary. After all, if an opposing offense senses a mismatch or decides a particular corner needs to be tested, they will go after them relentlessly until they’re convinced that it's not productive.

These are the NFL’s most targeted cornerbacks from the 2024 season in each major coverage facet.

Note: Minimum of 25% of coverage snaps required for each category

Not surprised. Coming off a major injury, I'm sure teams wanted to test him. I thought he held up pretty well overall.

Bland, like Diggs, are just one year wonders.

A mistake was made giving Diggs that contract, let’s not do it all over again with Bland.

Bland and Adebo (they are listed in the headline) have the fewest snaps of the group listed (30 and 34 respectively). If you remove them, the average number of snaps is ~53.

I’m not contending he played well in general last season, but this is the small sample size fallacy.

I don't see anything to be concerned with or attempt to trash Bland because of a 44% completion percentage haha. I don't care if a QB targets him all game, if he's only completing 44%.
