The Dallas Cowboys kick off training camp on Saturday and they will be looking to get defensive tackle Josh Price-Brent going quickly.

The challenge is getting the Illinois product, who was selected in the seventh round of the supplemental draft last week, up to speed on the system as fast as possible. The Cowboys also would like Price-Brent to drop weight and get down close to 300 pounds, according to a league source. He checked in at nearly 6-2 and 321 pounds at his pro day in Champaign, Ill., earlier this month.

Getting Price-Brent acclimated to the defense quickly shouldn’t be too difficult. Like scouts say, a closer a player is on defense to the ball, the easier it is for him to be prepared. Tackle is the easiest position for defensive players to come in and play immediately.

Price-Brent and BYU running back Harvey Unga were the only two players chosen in the supplemental draft. Although both were seventh-round picks, they’re expected to make the 53-man rosters of their respective teams. Unga was selected by the Chicago Bears. That’s because it would be too risky to try to move one of these players through waivers to the practice squad because the consensus is both would have mid-round grades on them in the regular April draft. That makes both of them value picks that the Cowboys and Bears will be willing to work to develop.

Mid-round grade means a potential talent similar to Marion Barber, Orlando Scandrick, and Doug Free.

Bye, Siavii.

not so fast. the cowboys are expressing their displeasure with siavii, but brent, washington and lessimore? doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

I think two of these guys are headed for the PS and my guess would be brent and washington. lessimore will make the 53.

Then I would rather have an undrafted grade so we can get another Tony Romo or Miles Austin. ;)

Hmmm...who is this supposed "league source"? I'm sure they want him to get into better shape but i dont see why they would want him to "slim down" all the way to 300 lbs if he's a potential NT. We already have seemingly too many DEs, so I cant imagine that they added Brent as another potential DE prospect.
