Amukamara has a good value in round one.
New York Giants
Value is the key to the Giants draft grade especially with their first-round pick where they landed CB Prince Amukamara out of Nebraska, who was projected by some as a top-10 pick. Third-round pick WR Jerrel Jernigan has the ability to be a mismatch nightmare both inside and out, and if they can keep DT Marvin Austin motivated, he’s a potential steal in round two.
Grade: B+

Dallas Cowboys
The draft started and ended well for the Cowboys, who added a potential blue-chip tackle in Tyron Smith in round one as well as a talented CB in Josh Thomas and their potential starting lead blocker Shaun Chapas later in the draft. However, I don’t think second-round LB Bruce Carter is an ideal fit as an ILB in their 34 defense and RB DeMarco Murray not only is a luxury pick, but in my mind Dallas already has better backs on the roster who can do the same type of things Murray is known for.
Grade: C

With the Carter pick, I trust that Rob Ryan knows who he needs and who will fit in his system and who won't.

Carter is simply a superb athlete at 240 pounds, and frankly I can't wait to see how Ryan will use the guy. He should be all over the field by mid-season.

I love it when people make statements and do not provide any reason to back that statement up. Carter is not a good fit for a 3-4 ILB.

...and why do you think that?

Only thing I can think of is, he is injured. That would be a good reason I guess. :laugh2:

i think rob ryan knows a little :D more about 3-4 ILBs than wes bunting

just a guess

Honestly I beg to differ regarding Murray I actually think hes better than Felix Jones, Choice or Barber. Hes more of a Package than the others. He can run inside or out and has good hands out of the backfield. If he gets in open space like a Brian Westbrook can take it to the House. He makes our backfield more explosive. It's funny because he doesn't even mention the Receiver we picked up which will be a super slot guy. His stats are right there with the top receivers. The only difference hes coming from C-USA which is rated lower but see Sanders (SMU) with Pitt. Steelers. This kid is probably much better.

These draft "experts" spend three months making v 18.0 mock draft and when a team doesn't take who they think they should, then the "expert" downgrades the team's draft.

Wes said the Cowboys should take Tyron Smith, so then clearly that becomes a "great pick" for Dallas. Then in rounds 2 and 3, when the team goes in another direction, suddenly those picks are bad because they don't jive with what Wes said they should do.

All of the pre and post draft stuff should be taken with a boatload of salt.

They are writing a paragraph on each team. What do you expect?

Any time they grade drafts less than 4 years beyone - is laughable.

And one comment was made everyon says New England trades this and that and gets all these prime picks..... and so on.
But they do not address their area of need or get players to stick on their roster.

Seems like they are more interested in trading than picking or trying to show the rest of the NFL their scouts know better than everyone else on talent.

When did they last win a SB and why was that??? Spygate.....

Not trying to validate his point, but one criticism I read was that Carter wasn't great at kixing it up with linemen which he would be asked to do often as a 3-4 ILB.

That said, has anyone come out and directly said that he'll be playing inside?

I ask because I have thought that he might be a good replacement outside if the team chooses not to re-up with Spencer on a new deal.

You can't say that about ANY of the Cowboys draft picks. They are all known for their hard work ethic and great intangibles.
