I had to chuckle...

The Sabres have gutted their team of all talent over the last two seasons (a combine 106 points OVER the last two seasons) in order get McDavid. The fans cheered on opposing teams to beat the Sabres in their own building and the "tank" job was on. Then the GM had the audacity to fire the coach, Ted Nolan, because he didn't see enough growth (after trading every producing player they had including both starting goaltenders).

The newspaper, the fans on their forums... even the GM talked non-stop about McDavid and how he was going to transform the franchise.

Anyway, Edmonton "won" the draft lottery and has first crack at drafting McDavid and Jack Eichel will fall to the Sabres.

And yeah Eichel is a darned good player, but the Sabres fans' forums are now filled with "Eichel will be the best player in Sabres history" kind of talk... :D

Edmonton front office makes Jerry Jones look like a HOF in the early 2000's.

Good ole boys system in there.

They might overcome their FO stupidity by having the luxury of drafting McDavid.

Eichel is the clear #1 in like 19 out of 20 drafts. It's not like the tank didn't work.

I just can't wait to see how EDM screws it all up lol

Living in Erie and watching McDavid first hand over 30+ games....I feel bad for the kid. He's going to Edmonton where all hockey talent goes to die. SMH

What a shame.

I mean that Eichel is the clear number one pick most of the time, if not for McDavid. This is a weird draft that has two franchise-type players. So, 19 years out of 20, Eichel is the #1 pick.

Ah yes, I agree.

What a shame.

I wish I would've went to see him more. Saw him a couple times last year, but not enough. He is special.
