remember the story about fb deon anderson sleeping in the team locker room at connecticut because he couldn't afford to rent an apartment?

just saw some very encouraging evidence of his dedication and intensity on the web site of strength trainer joe defranco from before the draft, in which defranco goes all out to sell anderson.

it's easy to see why, too.

check out http://www.defrancostraining.com/ask_joe/archives/ask_joe_07-03-09.htm and scroll down. there are several mentions of anderson, but the video at the bottom shows you the kind of fire this guy brings.

i'm really hoping he makes the team.

...by the way, defranco trained miles austin before he signed with the cowboys also, and called him one of the most impressive athletes he'd ever seen.

more stuff from defranco on deon anderson:

The UConn fullback that you’re referring to is this year’s resident freak, Deon Anderson. Mention this kid’s name to anyone who has ever played against him and you will see a look of fright come over them. Deon has to be the most respected, and feared, college football player that I have ever trained. Besides his football accolades, he has been a tremendous asset to my program. I’ve never had a kid bring more positive energy into my gym than Deon. His energy & intensity is contagious and every athlete in the gym feeds off of him. He has also turned out to be a great “student” and he’s picking up the techniques to the Combine tests very well.

It is easy to pull for this young man, and I wish him well. His best shot at making the team is special teams. He sounds like he has what it takes to fufill a number of roles on special teams that will enable him to make the 53 man roster, and the game day roster in a variety of roles.

If Anderson doesn't make the final 53, he just about has to be a lock for the PS.

Well, that might be bad for us, but at least the kid will have a very well paying job that will allow him to buy a home instead of living out of a locker room. I am happy for him for that.
