Nice interview with Clark Hunt, why didn't Jerry go after Andy Reid?

He doesn't have to be pass happy when his defense is scoring for him at times lol. Andy Reid had the tools and underachieved last season with a squad that had Maclin, Desean and Shady McCoy. There were so many parallels between Garrett and Reid it was ridiculous.

Wait up here. Your comparing a real coach to someone like Garrett. Reid at least has had a history of winning. Garrett hasn't. Thus I can't agree with you that their paths are similar.

I wouldn't have went after him. He refused to run Shady McCoy and is pass happy........that sounds awfully like what we already have. The only reason he's not pass happy now is because he has a dominant defense and a bus driver quarterback.

The only thing Andy Reid does is WIN

Sorry I did misunderstand. I know you cant just "throw out" a season, but last year in Philly was just a season to forget. Similar to Atlanta this year. While the bad record surely counts against you...sometimes you have to just chalk it up to a miserable year. IMO anyway.

Last year the Eagles tried to buy a Super Bowl. It usually ends up a failure when you bring in that many free agents. The circus was more than Reid could handle.

I think he would have had we been in the market for a HC last offseason. Now...did we have a better situation to offer than KC did? That's a question. That team was in good shape, and it was not in the same division he just left. It was in a completely different conference, and a city that's known for good BBQ. Oh, Yeah!

I've been asking myself this all offseason.

It was a perfect match.

I have mad respect for Andy Reid.

I don't blame the Eagle for firing him -- it WAS time. It was probably the best thing for both sides.

So, essentially he adapted to his personnel? Seems to be exactly what you want in a coach.

I think overall, Romo is a better QB than Alex Smith, but I think Alex Smith is being used far better in KC than Romo is being used in Dallas. Also, Alex Smith isn't burdened with having to carry the load because his defense can't hold a lead or get a key stop.

There's also a committment to the run. Jamaal Charles (4.3yd/carry) is NOT Adrian Peterson. He's got 177 more yards on 59 more carries than Demarco Murray (4.9yd/carry). But KC is committed to running the ball enough to help the offense. It helps that they can get leads and have a defense that can hold leads.

Dallas has more weapons than KC. They have Bowe, we have Dez. They have Avery, we have Austin/TWill. They have ?Fasano?, we have Witten. They have invested in Oline. KC is better coached and they have better front office staff, player development, scouting, etc.

The difference is that in Dallas, Andy Reid would have had to deal with Jerry's meddling. There, it looks like he's got the freedom to make it his team. When Reid came in, he held over just three coaches from Crennel's staff. LBs coach, DBs coach and the assistant Strength & Conditioning coach. He would not have had the luxury in Dallas. Jerry would have hired a staff for him.

it's night and day. The coaching talent Reid brings to a team would have been wasted in Dallas.

I would think the reason he didn't was pretty obvious. He has an HC here he likes and wants here.

I don't think Reid would have come here anyway. Why would he want the circus of having to face his old team twice a year?

KC was really the perfect situation for him, especially in light of his familial issues. Dallas probably would have been the worst.

When Garrett gets to 4 NFC Champ games and a Super Bowl, then we can put Garrett in the same category as Andy Reid. He doesnt have to win any of them. Just get to 4 championship games and one super bowl. Then we can argue who is better.

Always love dogmatic statements. Let me try one:

Barry Switzer is a much better coach than Andy Reid! That's a fact! When Andy Reid gets a ring THEN we can argue who is better.

Dude, if you think for a minute that Jason Garrett is remotely close to Andy Reid as a head coach, then you are in a very small percentage of people.

Since we're talkin about Andy Reid...a classic call to Philly Sports talk radio...this was a few yrs ago.
It was the weekend when the NFL wears pink for breast cancer awareness. Just before halftime in a game the eagles lost, Andy Reid really botched clock management. Cant remember now how he did...but it was blatant.

the next day a guys calls WIP and is ripping Andy for how he screwed up just before halftime. Then he says... "I think next year Andy better wear a pink jacket for breast cancer awareness...because there isnt a bigger boob than this guy".

lol
