superpunk said:The media is typically about a year or two behind the curve, consistently.
Idgit said:True. You never know when you might need to trade your franchise corner for a running back. Or let him walk in FA since if you run out of cap room.
riggo said:yeah. trading that awesome CB for that portis scrub, then signing springs, then letting smoot walk and light it up in minny, then drafting that rogers guy....that was dumb.
superpunk said:Let's see...
Denver - Champ's current team - was a game away from the super bowl last year.
Seattle - Springs former team - went to the super bowl last year.
The Commanders......not so much.

Denver had the #2 rushing attack in the league this year, and #4 last year - WITHOUT Portis!
So they got the best DB in the league, for a player they didn't even need!
Hilarity!!!!!!!!
summerisfunner said:definitely, but if he has another year like last year, he'll get in the PRo Bowl, and we'll start hearing about him from media-outlets
Alexander said:All he needs is a Madden mention: "Hey, Terrence Newman is one of the better cornerbacks in football" and he is in.
I bet Newman gets a couple of those this season. Opposing QB's should really feel the heat from our front seven this year and hopefully toss some real ducks up in the air.Alexander said:He needs one highlight reel interception for touchdown.
ravidubey said:To have boosted his rep, Newman needed to make more interceptions against teams other than Washington.
His ability to force and recover fumbles is remarkable, what he lacks is the killer mentality of Sanders and to a lesser extent Bailey. When you threw a pick vs. Deion or even lost the ball near him, there was a chance it was coming back for a TD. That puts the fear of God into QB's as much as anything.
Newman's interceptions thus far have been OK, though rarely game-changing and obviously never producing a single touchdown.
I'm very glad he's a Cowboy; thanks for the stats.

Charles Woodson
