Packers LB Nick Barnett talks tough about TE Jason Witten, vowing to get physical with him and telling the Green Bay Press Gazette, "If we execute our fundamentals we should be able to shut him down."

The performances of premier tight ends against the Packers this season suggests otherwise. Kansas City's Tony Gonzalez, San Diego's Antonio Gates and Washington's Chris Cooley all had at least nine catches and over 100 yards against Green Bay.

The key for Witten in the passing game could be how well RT Marc Colombo matches up with NFL sacks leader Aaron Kampman. One of the primary reasons Witten had season-low totals in catches and yards against the Giants a few weeks ago was because he had to help in pass protection a lot against Michael Strahan.

If Witten spends more time running routes than pass protecting, he'll prove Barnett wrong.

Yes, by all means, "get physical" with the guy three inches and 30 pounds heavier than you, Nick.

These guys never learn, do they?

That's typical Barnett. He likes to run his mouth. Sometimes he runs it a little too much.

Barnett is having a great year and I'm sure the Cowboys won't be taking him lightly.

Trust me, the Packers have a lot of respect for the Cowboys. It's the Vikings the Packers don't respect.

The fundamentals had it coming, if you ask me.

I loved that scene prior to the Lions v Packers game, with Barnett and Raiola (A center, mind you) jawing (Barnett helmet on, Raiola in his grill and helmet off)...I had read about Barnett being intense but Raiola???...That dude looks like he wants a piece of everyone

Just another team spouting garbage before getting beat, we've seen/heard it many times this season.

Mee, I'm all for giving the fundamentals a second chance.

Didn't the Packers fans used to really not like him because of it a couple of years ago? I remember he made a tackle for like a one yard loss and the fans cheered as expected, but then he did this stupid little shovel thing and they all booed.

Barnett was hated by Packers fans until this year. He had a decent rookie year in 2003 (heck, I was just happy he wasn't Hardy Nickerson). He played poorly in 2004 and 2005. He finally started to play down the stretch last year.

I was at the New England game last year when Lawrence Maroney faked Barnett out of his jock strap for an easy TD. When they showed the replay on the Jumbotron everyone booed.

I don't remember Barnett doing the "gravedigger" shovel thing. Gilbert Brown used to do that. Packers fans had enough of Gilbert doing the "gravedigger" because he would do it after his only tackle of the game.

I was never a Barnett hater but I was certainly disappointed with him until the end of last year. I think it was when he was injured and missed the Seattle game last year that a light finally went off in his head. Then again he was going to get his job back anyway as Abdul Hodge sucked that night.

I honestly don't see how this is running his mouth in this situation. Nick does run his mouth too often, but in this case all he said was that if they peform their scheme well they can protect against Witten.

It is an emtional game fellas, with alot of money and pride at stake.

I have no problem with what Barnett said, nor with what Donald Driver has stated.

If a member of the Cowboys came out and said, "If we execute our defensive game plan we will be successful", I wouldn't have a problem with it.

The beauty of it all is that we actually get to see the outcome. No computers, no BCS, no Coaches Poll. We get to see the game decided on the field and that is all that matters.

It's fun seeing these guys showing so much emotion in some of these games we play, it comes with the territory when you are 10-1 and probably the big dog on block...or at least one of them.

Like someone on this board likes to say:

EMBRACE THE HATE!!!

Chocko Lab, you and Tim can untwist them now.
First, Barnett is no Crayton.
Second, I am glad Barnett is mouthing off. He just might provide some added incentive for the Cowboys.
Third, sticks and stones, but you and Tim sure are sensitive about words. Crybabies. You must have been a playground monitor.;)

Irony? Hypocrisy? Not sure. Either way, it made me laugh.
