Ironic Twist: Romo Wins December Award

Ok, so these awards such as NFC Player of the Week or the month aren’t usually a big deal. They’re nice for the player, but nothing that really matters in the big picture.
But there is something about Tony Romo being named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for December – you know that black hole on the calendar that held this team and its quarterback hostage.
So for Romo to not only exercise those demons, going 3-2 in the final five games of the season to lead the Cowboys to an NFC East title, has to be a little more gratifying than just any ol’ month in any season. Romo has won the award twice before, both in November during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
But in December and January, Romo had four of the five games with a QB rating of at least 104.0. His other game was the 17-0 win over Washington where Romo’s rating was 86.1.
During the final five, Romo threw nine touchdowns and just two interceptions, with three 300-yard performances.
