I don't know what's going on with Nick Folk, but he's been missing important fields goals (i.e. Green Bay, New York, etc.). I know he's the starting kicker but with the playoffs around the corner and the Cowboys needing to win in december and if they make it, the playoffs. A kicker it vital and I believe if the Cowboys make a run deep in december or the playoffs they need Folk to hold up on his end of the bargin.

I believe Folk has to something to correct this, because going into the playoffs you don't want to be missing vitals field goals that could determine whether you win or lose.

Fans, your thoughts?

Dude is going to cost us a game if this keeps up. Missing FGs against scrub teams like Oakland dont mean anything, however a missed FG will get us beat against the Chargers and Saints of the NFL.

Good Point

Sometimes kickers could mean just as much as the quarterbacks. How do you think New England kicker Adam Vinaterian got his name?

I used to call Nick Folk money but now it's like I don't expect him to hit anything over 40 yards... If you're not going to kickoff at least make your FGs.

Right. It ain't like he's playing a full game, he's just asked to kick field goals. That's the reason why he's making all of that money.

What's so tantalizing is that his kicks are just a hair off. I mean hitting the upright lol. I still have faith he can turn it around.

I agree he can't keep it up, RealCowboyfan, but I'm not sure we really have any alternative. Do we really have any clue how good of a field goal kicker Buehler is? Are we prepared to bench/dump Folk, only to have Buehler shank his first attempt?

I realize you can't always make decisions based off the fear that the alternative is worse, but I think Folk has given us enough good over the years to believe he can't get through this. Beside, his misses are a hair off, and he is coming off offseason surgery. I'm not ready to dump on him just yet.

But, yes, his misses have been agonizing. I too have no faith whenever he lines up right now.

Definitely a concern. For next season.

Don't worry fellow fans, we won't be having to rely on Folk's lack of confidence problem lately in December or the playoffs. We'll win December by an average score of 27-17, and will be in no situation relying on a long FG attempt by a doubtful kicker throughout the playoffs.

:banghead::eek:

Um....okay......is Rafeal Septien still alive and kicking as it were? Toni Fritsch even....?

3 weeks ago we and the media were saying he was one of the top kickers in the game. Hes a bit off now, let him be for a while he deserves that. All kickers go through this.

Im not saying get rid of Nick Folk, im just saying the Cowboys either needs to fix the problem through him or see if Buechler can kick as accurate or more, because from what I have seen in the preseason, Beuchler was more accurate than Folk.

I am not saying we need to cut him tommorrow, I am just saying that he cant keep missing these FGs and we dont do anything about it.

We need to try a new holder, maybe we need to try letting Buheler try some kicks in practice to send a message, or do something else.

Missing FGs in the playoffs will get you beat, plain and simple. How many of you guys are confident that Folk can make a 40+ yard FG in the playoffs on the road???

I would have 0 faith he makes that kick.

I'm starting to cover my eyes with my hands and peeking through my fingers when he kicks as well. It is definitely nerve wracking.

But there is nothing the team can do about it now. It's too late in the season. We just have to hope he works it out. If he doesn't, we may have to look at other options next year.

Kickers go through these types of slumps sometimes. Even the great ones. I believe he'll work his way through this.

I'm trying to stay positive and hope that Folk returns to form, but I remember thinking the same thing about Vanderjagt. That guy hasn't even sniffed an NFL roster since we cut him loose. Sometimes they lose it and it never comes back.

I don't THINK that's the case with Folk, but hell, even Jason Elam is really struggling this year and THAT guy was money for a LONG time.

Before this year, Elam had 6 seasons with a FG% of 75% or lower. In his first 5 seasons, he was at 75% or lower 3 times. Even Vanderjagt had a low 70's season in the middle of his stretch of being the most accurate kicker of all time. The year after he had his slump, he came back and hit 37 of 37 FGA.

You are correct. BUT, the one thing that Elam and Vanderjagt typically were was clutch. They missed their share of kicks like any other kicker. But, when their team REALLY needed it they came through more often than not. I don't have that kind of confidence in Folk right now. And quite frankly, neither does he. Over the past 3 games Folk accuracy is at 25%. That 75% is looking pretty damn good right now.
