From the DMN Blog:

Nick Folk's 57-yard field goal attempt at the end of the first half was understandable. But the 42-yarder with 10:38 left in the game was a money kick he's got to make. He low line drive hooked left.

``It wasn't very good operation,'' Folk said. ``From what I could tell, it looked like the ball wasn't where it needed to be.''

Punter Mat McBriar said he pushed the ball forward on the hold.

``I sometimes lunge forward to get the ball,'' McBriar said. ``That's how I punt. I move into the ball. If I'm trying to turn the ball to move the laces, sometimes I put the ball too far out front. It was just a bad hold.''

Folk is 2 of 7 over the last four games. He has missed eight times this season.

``I'm not going to lose confidence,'' Folk said. ``That's one thing I can tell you.''

I thought cutting him before reading this was silly. Now, I say cut him.

If the holding is a problem then they should give Crayton the position.

He only has one job and he fails at it. I hope Buehler is accurate, because Folk is a waste of roster space.

I agree with you 100%.

I wouldn't cut him, but I would deactivate Folk next week and have Buehler handle all kicking duties against SD.

Wade won't lobby for it. We all know Jerry has the ultimate authority but if Wade wanted to get rid of Folk all it would take is a collective Wade/Garrett meeting with Jerry. Wade has no spine. Therefore, Folk will remain.

Kickers are a dime a dozen. When yours starts missing more than he makes you cut him, and move on to the next one till he starts failing.

Kickers are revolving doors, they wear out their welcome quick and when they get in funks they become quickly expendable.

The Cowboys have had 7 since they last won a playoff game:

Chris Boniol
Richie Cunningham
Tim Sedar
Billy Cundiff
Jose Cortez
Martin Grammatica
Nick Folk.

So they last an average of two seasons.

Cut him now. I feel very little sympathy for kickers, they are barely football players, a guy like Folk has maybe 6 plays a game at best. He has lost it and its time to move on.

Didn't anyone else see the hold that McBriar gave him? The laces were on the side, not facing forward toward the goal post. The problem here is the holder. Folk has no faith in him. Remember earlier in the season when he actually held the laces right where Folk kicks it?

We need a new holder, one that Folk is confident in.

:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

Excuses. Missed 5 of the last 10 and you blame the hold.

This aint Ace Ventura, champ.

I am replaying the play right now, and I see no laces in the picture. On the slo mo replay, you can see McBriar spin the laces away, and they cannot be seen from Folk's perspective. Folk shanked the kick plain and simple.

Ok how many "cut Folk" threads will there be, *MERGE* please, thanks!

Folk is a bum now. And Buehler is the best option as of now.

So, we're going to blame a guy (Folk) who has been money until McBriar got the holding duties. Then, when McBriar actually admits to putting the ball out too far in front (with the laces to the side by the way), we're going to continue to jump on Folk.

I'd like to see Tiger Woods try to hit a golf ball when someone moved it about 6 inches closer to him right before he swung. You guys are looking for answers in the wrong place. McBriar needs to be relieved of his duties for someone who can get a consistent placement on the hold.

Again, this isnt Ace Ventura.

Tons of kickers have suddenly lost 'it' and Folk is no different.

Laugh all you want guys. Look at how well Folk did prior to McBriar holding. Now you have McBriar admit to "sometimes" moving the ball further forward than he should.

If you blame that all on Folk then you really need your heads examined.

Anybody have any faith in him anymore? We are taking up a roster spot for a K and kickoff specialist. Think it might be time to give Beuhler (sp?) a try.
