Yes, that's why the Patriots were forced to release him. They didn't do it because they wanted him gone, but rather to free up a slot for a temporary replacement kicker while he recovered from his surgery.

Like @Gaede said, at this point Dallas needs to treat trips into the opposing teams territory as 4 down territory at times that they are in normal kickers FG range.

And for those who love analytics, with this defense, what the analytics tell you about going for it once across the 50 yard line but still out of FG range, with this defense, Dallas needs to punt the ball.
