Nick Harris dropped a couple nuggets

Was Dart that much better at ole Miss? He tore it up playing with him in college. Was it the system? I'm wondering out loud. Hard to believe the guy suddenly can't cut it.
Wish I had an answer for you there. I don't have a ton of insight to his college play, I can only really speak to his NFL film. Not sure if he was more of a find the soft spots in coverage guy which is easier in college, or his physical attributes just let him dominate lower competition? Not super familiar with his college tape.

Interesting notes. I wonder if Tet was the pick at 12, then when would they have addressed the OG position and with who? Would they have gone OG in the second round? or would they still be Ezeiruaku?

WR off the board after the 5th is also interesting. I wonder who they had in the 4th and 5th rounds that were worth taking?

4th round WRs:
Chimere Dike
Dont'e Thornton
Arian Smith
Jaylin Lane
Jalen Royals
Eric Ayomanor
Jordan Watkins

5th round WRs:
Ke'Andre Lambert -Smith
Tony Horton

Thornton with his vertical speed may have been worth a look. But I don't think any of these guys are potentially better than Tolbert or Mingo. They may turn out to be, but based on their attributes, I think they are similar or worse prospects that what Dallas already has. Still, not having a 4th round pick hurt the Cowboys.

On the last point, I really hope they do not do it again and trade away yet another 4th round pick for a guy who has struggled in the NFL. The time to address this was in Free Agency.
Thornton will put up better numbers than Tolbert, Mingo and Brooks combined.

If the Cowboys thought that much of Royals they would have drafted him. Obviously the Cowboys think Mingo is better than any receiver they could have had in the 4th round so that is really all that matters. Personally I think Mingo is better than Royals or any receiver they could have gotten in the 4th. Mingo is bigger and faster.
The 2nd sentence is the big problem here.

Mingo at pick 114 doesn't appear to be a bad deal. He should contribute and the receivers that were left on the board probably wouldn't be much better.
There were other players available at 114 besides WR’s

Yeah but what could we have gotten otherwise with the pick we gave up for him

Let's look at the entirety of the Cowboys 2025 draft

1. Tyler Booker
2. Donovan Ezeiruaku
3. Shavon Revel
4. Jonathon Mingo
5. Kaiir Elam
5. Joe Milton
5. Jaydon Blue
5. Shemar James
6. Kenneth Murray
6. Ajani Cornelius
7. Jay Toia
7. Phil Mahfa
7. Tommy Akingnesote

That is 13 players when you include the players they received in trades.

That is 1 quarterback, 2 runningbacks, 1 WR, 2 O-linemen, 3 D-linemen, 2 LBers, and 2 DBs.

Mingo might be a risk but I see very little impact on the overall value of this draft so it was a minor risk worth taking.

It's not a bad deal if everyone says he's Deebo Samuel, which is what many were saying.

I think our scouts likes him, but always saw him as a developmental player like Noah Brown.

They were hoping he was the next DK Metcalf or AJ Brown. Unfortunately, the only thing he had in common with them was a big body and Ole Miss.
