I was fine with the philosophy of building from within and re signing our own. But it now appears we arent keeping anyone or replacing them with anyone of note. I realize we were going to have some turn over but Im unsettled with losing both safeties and starting to see an uncomfortable pattern develop this offseason.

While Perry was likely not in question to begin with I do hope we sign a couple of noteworthy additions to make up for our loses.

Don't get your hopes up. Dallas will do what they do every year. Let guys leave that they thought they could keep, draft guys that most likely won't be a factor for 2 or 3 years, and fill holes with late cuts. Then, if we make the playoffs this year, we'll once more exit early because of the D.....Status quo.....Maybe Jerry should try going out on Jimmy's boat once in a while.....

Don't get me wrong here guys. I do not agree with overspending in FA, but I do believe that you have to fill some holes with GOOD FA's once in a while, not other's trash.....

Call me crazy but this doesn't feel like every year. I cant recall the prospect of losing so many starters in one offseason. But my memory aint what it used to be. Its early, Im not hitting the panic button yet, but I have located it and am ready when need be lol.

I'm not panicking quite yet. But it gets old watching obvious needs being ignored year after year, or filled with problem children or cast-offs from other teams that never pan out here. Our D is getting picked apart this off-season and it was already our weakest link. I'll wait to see who we draft and sign after cuts, but I'm not feeling real confident in our FO to fix this thing. They already wasted one QB's career, and possibly Wittens. Lets hope they don't waste Dak's too.....

That sucks, he was someone that wasn't my first choice, but I think he would have been a good addition.

Wonder what he signed for. This is a player I thought we should have been looking at.

This feels exactly like every year to me.

The players we're losing are all players we were content to lose. We're not going to make any big signings for another few days, then we'll start filling holes. The rest comes through the draft.

Really? We lost all of Mackenzie Bernadeua last year. Not quite the same.

Let's see how it shakes out. Last season at this point we lost Bernadeau. We'd let Hardy, Hayden, and Mincey walk and people were freaking about the holes in the DL. Carr had us over a barrel with his contract because Jerry and Stephen were idiots. Claiborne was a goner. Hanna and J Crawford and Dunbar were off looking at other teams. And we had no backup QB to speak of and Matt Moore had just rejected us. Robert Turbin had even left us for the Colts.

Then Cedric Thornton and Alfred Morris were brought in. We signed Mayowa. Everybody around here laughed it off. Then we went into the draft, filled the holes, and 13-3.

Pretty much the same thing each offseason these days.

Fair enough for the most part, although I think the quality of players and the sheer number of starters is more so this year.

Church
Wilcox
Twill
McClain
Carr?
Mo?

Ive said it before, although they have my attention Im not panicking just yet. Losing Romo for nothing and both Safeties is not a great start. But I will let it play out and give them the benifit of the doubt in the meantime.

Losing Romo for nothing straight up sucks. I'm not defending that.

I agree it's unsettling to lose the defensive starters. Even though they're fairly mediocre players across the board. I wanted to keep Church, Carr, and McClain, myself, and we might lose them all. The flip side is we really will be finally adding some talent to the defense through the draft. There are always value FAs available after the first week of free agency. We'll fill the holes with some questionable players, add 2-3 talented guys to the roster, and let some of the young guys we like (Collins, Wilson, Smith, Brown, Frasier) take bigger roles.

It doesn't hurt that I like Heath more than Wilcox, anyway.

Either way, right or wrong, this is pretty much what we do on this team now. Might as well get used to it. Generally speaking, the roster has been getting better and not worse. Thanks to hitting on a QB out of the blue last year.
