Now I'm not suggesting doing this at any other time.... When we are in our nickel defense what would happen if we moved Roy up with Burnett as linebackers?

Any of you guys remember the Bill Bates days? He played linebacker when Dallas would run thier nickle and Dime packages.

I think that would really play to his strength and it would make if much tougher for the offense to account for him.

I don't know that you could do it anytime they went 3 wide, I'm not sure how much it would degrade the run stopping ability, but I think it could be a very effective package at times.

I suggested that in another thread. I think it's a good idea. You can either blitz him or just have him spy the qb. If you put Roy in that postion I think he could be effective. But, what do I know?

You bring Roy up and who are the safeties back? Watkins and Davis? Parcells and Zim must think that Davis is even worse then Roy in coverage back there in that situation.

According to me you know alot, but then again my expertise comes from holding a beer can and sitting in a recliner in front of my TV, with occasional pacing thrown in.

It just seems we could put him in better positions when we know they are throwing the ball.

Watkins and Parrish...that's assuming Parrish looks good enough in practice to warrant playing time.

I would say Watkins and Parrish also, I'd like to see Elam get some looks also.

It's not just about fixing the safety position to me it's about taking a play maker and putting him where he is more comfortable. If Roy drops back from a linebacker spot he's still facing the QB, when he has to turn his back to the QB it's over.

the guy is incredible near the LoS, figure out a way to play him there when in the nickle.

I was justing thinking the same thing about moving Roy to LB on passing downs. Here is another thought, why couldn't we put a safety other than Davis back there with either Nate Jones or Jacques Reeves. This i believe would benefit us having a corner back there who, well, knows how to cover. Heck they could move Henry back there and put Reeves in his spot. Until we fix this FS problem i don't for see us winning a Super Bowl. On second thought a pass rush other than D-Ware would be nice. Dear Santa for Christmas i would like a pass rush and a safety who could cover. I think that covers Christmas for all Cowboy fans.

Anything would be better than what we have now. I would like to see Henry and Roy at the safteys, Newman and Glenn at the corners, and put in Reeves in Nickel situations.

i think parrish is going to play alot of SS/FS the rest of the way if he can grasp the D.

i would remove Roy on all passing downs for a half and see how it goes. he's a cluster**** back there since day one without Darren.

That sounds like a good option as well. This situation concerns me as we head toward the draft and free agency. We really need some young
O-lineman, A RG for Rivera and LT for Flozell, don't really know too much about Big Red(McQuistan). A WR who is not in the 30's or past their prime. Are we settled at RB, Kicker, CB, NT. So many spots have needs that we continue to struggle in the FS area, very frustrating.

Parrish is a strong safety and remember he was just released. There is a reason he was released. He could probably work strong safety for a few plays and special teams. But I doubt he is the answer at FS.

It might just work....as we all know, Roy excells around the line of scrimmage ....and not in coverage.

put in Nate Jones and Aaron Glenn as our 3 and 4th DB.

I'd thought about Nate Jones didn't they have him working some at safety at one point in the offseason?
