Ain't gonna lie, I would see it just cuz. That was a crazy idea that would have offended the loyal fans but intrigued the masses. I thought I was watching a spoof until the very end of that clip but seemed like it was real.

And Kevin Smith was going to write it.

Video is 20 minutes but it's pretty hilarious and insightful. Kevin Smith talking about writing the superman script.

It was posted and talked about here way back when. I believe most everyone was against it and glad it didn't happen.

That was incredibly hilarious, the spider, lol I clapped when he asked Kevin about Polar Bears. I can't believe the level of incompetence that guys like Kevin had to deal with in the industry it is awful.

There's a lot of info to search for and read about this, including the alleged script if anyone is interested.

Jon Peters was a big contributor to that debacle.

It would have been better than the Superman movie they did 5 or 6 years ago that had Kevin Spacey as Lex.

That movie was just plain garbage.

From the wiki article on this (so take it for what it's worth I guess):

Disappointed by the lack of progress on the film's production, aspiring screenwriter/comic book fan Alex Ford was able to have a script of his (titled Superman: The Man of Steel) accepted at the studio's offices in September 1998. Ford pitched his idea for a film series consisting of seven installments, and his approach impressed Warner Bros. and Peters, though he was later given a farewell due to creative differences. Ford said, "I can tell you they don't know much about comics. Their audience isn't you and me who pay $7.00. It's for the parents who spend $60 on toys and lunchboxes. It is a business, and what's more important, the $150 million at the box office or the $600 million in merchandising?"

Honestly, if you guys are really interested in this subject, search for info on Jon Peters, and how he essentially stole millions from Sony pictures along the way. His 'vision' for Superman was an uninformed joke and he effectively derailed this entire project and everyone involved.

And Cage made several million along the way, never actually playing Superman.

Glad that it wasn't made. Or it may had been a flop. Heard that Supermans are usually played by newcomers. As it is a tradition of the producers and the owners of the character!

That guy(Peters) is a nut. He couldn't stand Superman's costume or the fact he could fly. Two things that make him Superman. They are an essential part of his identity.

How about he once designed a wig for Barbara Streisand & dated her. I guess that pretty much explains where his sanity went before his involvement with Superman Lives.

Yeah.

Everything he wanted to do with this project was just plain bad.

The guy had no business being near filmmaking.
