Usually when Bill lets someone go, no matter what the board says, he turns out to be right. He's got a great eye for talent. At least for knowing when folks don't got it.

Well, Bill did draft him.

FIRST OFF - Ireland was here before he became the head of scouting. He was just, you know, scouting.

SECOND OFF - Thorton wasn't a stupid pick - a lot of people had him tagged. And he didn't look awful in training camp that year. He just showed that he didn't have 'it' for some reason or other. It happens - I asssure you we will make a bad pick again someday.

Just because we may (keyword - may - jury still out) have had 2 outstanding drafts in a row doesn't mean that you always get so lucky.
