After the 2009 season many thought the Cowboys would dominate in 2010. Somewhere in the offseason, they lost that focus and took things for granted. Sortof like the Dream Team Eagles. We are going to have a target on our back next year and the other teams in our division will all be better next year. The Cowboys need to stay hungry this offseason, and if so they will be back next year. This team is a lot younger then that team but a lot more mature at some key spots... I think that should help.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your last sentence. The team is much younger and built around the o-line now.

Romo and Witten are still in place as leaders and defensive help should be incoming by means of the draft and potentially free agency.

I see them winning the NFCE at a minimum next year.

im interested in how Garrett is gonna choose to motivate this team next year..last years #Fight mantra really took a life of its own, to see them go down in this fashon was heart wrenching.....next year needs to be even better

Honestly, I didn't think we'd get more than 5 wins this year at season's start. This team is ENTIRELY different. I see us coming out in 2015 ready to BUST SOME HEADS! Romo will get that ring, I know it!

Man, I don't at all recall people thinking Dallas would dominate in 2010. 2008 maybe.

The makeup of teams changes from year to year. I believe the make up of this team is far better prepared for the challenge of another year. For example the character of our players is better. No "me first" players exist. Selfish players are not RKG's.

The big difference is that OL was aging an falling apart at the seams.

Team chemistry.

It maybe a cliche but maintaining & fostering the positive camaraderie among the players and coaching staff is crucial in continuing the upward trend of the organization.
Roster turnover, retirements, injury setbacks are all part of the off-season.
Retooling the roster and potential coaching changes will impact the team.

In 2015, management decisions will be pivotal in preserving the positive trajectory of the team.

As long as we have this version of Romo, and this offensive line, we will contend.

I think the Wade Phillips factor cannot be overstated. It's often true that teams see a short-term benefit when they change from one extreme kind of coach to another. Going from a domineering martinet to a lax "player's coach" or vice versa often results in a team doing better for a while. But in the long run, both types wear out their welcome. The teams with softy coaches lose discipline and accountability, the teams with obsessive dictators get burnt out. I think that's exactly what we saw with the transition from Parcells to Phillips (and we saw the other side of that progression this year with SF under Harbaugh). We also saw with Phillips a coach who didn't pay enough attention to the details, which can again be okay in the short-term, but left a vacuum in things like the draft for Jerry to fill.

If we can retain the coordinators (3), draft BPA (defense), we have a good chance of actually improving, rather than declining, next year.
