History has no bearing on who we'll draft at No. 9 in 2011, but it's interesting to see who has been taken at the spot in years past...

'10 - C.J. Spiller
'09 - B.J. Raji
'08 - Derrick Harvey
'07 - Ted Ginn Jr.
'06 - Ernie Sims
'05 - Carlos Rogers
'04 - Reggie Williams
'03 - Kevin Williams
'02 - John Henderson
'01 - Koren Robinson
'00 - Brian Ulracher

some real split results there.

Yeah, each team picks differently. Many of those would have gone later depending on which team was drafting. The six slot has its losers too...like Vernon Gholston a couple of years ago. Also, I like seeing what could have been taken at a certain slot vs what was taken. That better reflects potentially lost value.

I guess the main the thing to keep in mind besides that the draft is at least a bit of a crapshoot is this: there are hundreds of players in a draft pool and the team picking 9th will have at MOST 3 (but maybe zero) players less to choose from (that they want). The 6 slot has more value on paper, but in a salary cap world picking a 3 slots later also frees up more cash for other players.

lol, some terrible picks in there. Luckily we're not (I Hope) in the market for a WR or RB in the first this year.

Well, if we were to draft a DT, it seems as though we would probably hit a homerun! Henderson, Raji and Williams are some pretty good NT/DT's, at least according to the draft guru's around here..

seems like a lot of those guys were drafted because they were either big or fast, instead of how productive they were.

Really, like who?

All those guys were productive college players.
