No cap space, Hatcher free to go, is DT our biggest area of need?

I was looking over our roster and DT has to be our biggest area of need. Hatcher will probably leave via free agency. I don't think we should franchise him. We need to let him and Spencer walk. We have to think about our future free agents, Dez, T. Smith and D. Murray. I would rather spend on the future, then pay players over 30. I read about moving Crawford inside; however, we don't even know what we would get from that move. This draft has to be spot on, for us to compete next season. Sure we have other areas of need like safety, Interior OL and DE, but our DT positions look bad.

If Ware is back and plays well, Spencer takes a cut, and Hatcher could be resigned then we'd be in decent shape. My off the wall guess is that won't happen. So you're right. Lot's of problems.

Forget about need right now. Just draft the best available player regardless of position. No one knows what will be our biggest need come week one. And no one has any idea what our biggest need will be in Dec of 2014 as the team is fighting to get into the playoffs. No one can predict injuries. One year we had a bunch of injuries at the center position. Last year it was DL and LB. An injury at position X (I don't want to mention a player and jinx them) suddenly becomes a major need.

Just let the talent on the draft fall to you. Reaching for players based on need solves nothing. If the BPA happens to also be a need then great.

Jerry, is that you? Looks like the formula that has failed the Cowboys for a long time!

Defense is our greatest need. All of it. Defensive Line, Linebackers, and Safety.

Only position we might be ok is Cornerback with Mo, Carr, and Scandrick. Maybe B.W. Webb will improve also.

Cap space in 2014 will not prevent the Cowboys from signing free agents.

I think we need to be looking at both DT and DE.
