I mean, think about it. With player's now not reaching free-agency for 6 years and the likelihood of being able to keep good players once you have them, signing a 25-year-old, pro-bowl stud NOW just makes good sense. He'd become a stalwart on Dallas' line for as long as we wanted him. And with so many teams having to gut their roster just to get under this year's cap & therefore not being big players in free-agency, the field narrows as to who we'll be in competition with for his services.
Signing LeCharles Bentley, I think, and other young, promising players (such as Chris Hope) just became a lot more important than it was before. 'Cause basically, once we have 'em... if we want 'em... they're ours for life!
