Injuries have plagued many of the players participating in post season All Star games the past few weeks, as first reported here at TFYDraft.com. We brought readers up to speed on a pair of tight ends who went down in El Paso this week and twittered from the Senior Bowl field about injuries to Illinois guard Jon Asamoah and Wisconsin defender O’Brien Shofield soon after they occurred. With rumors running rampant about the condition of Asamoah we get to the bottom of the story tonight in this TFY Draft exclusive.
Earlier today the agent for Jon Asamoah gave us the complete details of the offensive linemans condition.

Joe Panos told us Asamoah initially hurt his shoulder on the first day of Senior Bowl practice, Monday, January 26th, during one-on-one drills. An MRI was initially taken in Mobile and the results were negative. A second MRI was taken when Asamoah returned to Phoenix, where he’s training at Athlete’s Performance, and that too was negative and showed no soft tissue damage to his shoulder.

Asamoah was later diagnosed with a hairline fracture of his scapula, or in layman’s terms, a small crack in his shoulder blade. Panos pointed out no surgery will be required and more importantly, the scapula was not displaced in anyway.

That being the case Asamoah won’t workout at the combine as his injury heals. He is slated to perform an individual workout during the first week of April, though no definitive date has been set.

Asamoah moves towards April’s draft as one of the highest rated guards available. Trainers who’ve been with him for several weeks now have applauded his effort and work ethic.

Panos also gave us an update on another highly rated player he represents, Syracuse defensive lineman Arthur Jones.

Jones, who had surgery on a meniscus injury late last season, was invited to play in the Senior Bowl but sat the event out rehabbing his knee. Still not 100%, Panos said they will take a wait and see approach as to what Jones will participate in at the combine.

Panos did tell us a date of April 6th has been set up for Jones to individually workout in front of scouts in Syracuse.
