No contract extension for DeSean Jackson, yet
Posted by Mike Florio on March 18, 2010 11:36 PM ET
Despite some Twitter entries suggesting that Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson has gone to Philly and left with a new contract, we're told that Jackson has not yet obtained a new contract from the Eagles.

Jackson is eligible for an extension because he has completed two NFL seasons. Unlike other young players whom the Eagles have extended early in their years before they became stars, Jackson already is a star.

And so if they want to do a new deal it won't be cheap. Which makes us think that they'll be dragging their feet on this one.

Step one: Sign a huge contract.
Step two: Tear ACL in pre-season.

DeSean Jackson-WR- Eagles Mar. 19 - 12:23 pm et

Profootballtalk.com shoots down rumors that DeSean Jackson was recently in Philadelphia to negotiate a contract extension.

Though he may have earned it, the Eagles wouldn't be prudent to give Jackson a mega contract when he's under control so cheaply through 2011. The 23-year-old is due base salaries of $470,000 and $555,000 in the final two seasons on his rookie deal. The Eagles may approach D-Jax after this year.

Jackson demand what you are owed there buddy. You have to push it, you have to strike while the iron is fiercely hot, you are the best WR in the east Miles Austin who? Ooo you are better and younger than that, you just go right through that door and stand on that desk til you are paid son and dont take no for an answer.

If nothing else, the drama that organization drums up every year is always fun to listen to.

Hey hey Desean if they say no, go to McNabb with that video of him coming out of the lockers for the playoff game. He'll stand by you on that one. That is some serious footage McNabb wants to see disappear.

Eagles love to lowball; they are proud of the times that they shaft their players. I think that is ONE of the reasons the current eagle management will never win a SB-KARMA.

He will be on another team in 2 years.

And will be on at least 4 different teams in his career.

He shouldn't get one.

Play out your original contract. Or at least wait until you have played more than half of the term to start looking for an extension.

It won't be long before rookies start screaming for new contracts after their first season.

Oh the poor baby, dont you know he is ticked off right now!

DeSean Jackson-WR- Eagles Mar. 22 - 5:39 pm et

The Philadelphia Daily News confirms that the Eagles are unlikely to extend DeSean Jackson's contract this offseason.

An NFL executive with knowledge of D-Jax's rookie deal called an extension "impossible" under the current in-limbo Collective Bargaining Agreement. While Jackson is clearly underpaid, the Eagles hold the cards with Jackson under contract through 2011. He's in line to collect $470,000 in salary this year.

How are we to expect him to live off a paltry 470,000 this year, I am incensed with that amount of money. More irked off i dont have it, but either way.

Stand your ground DeSean.
