.... I am glad i just wasted 9 dollars. IF anyone saw this movie, and liked it please tell me why.

Well I have the book because I really enjoy Cormac McCarthy's writing ( just read The Road which was spectacular), but I haven't seen the flick yet. I did hear wbap host saying it was a great movie and that the ending was very controversial...ie many ppl didn't like the ending... I'll probably hurry up and read the book and go see the movie during Xmas.

Sorry to hear you did not like it. My wife and I loved it.

Javier Bardem gives one of the best performances by a bad guy I've ever seen. It's an intense movie with great dialogue. I've loved every one of the Coen Brother's movies, but this one is my favorite by far.

He's one guy I've never heard of who we will all probably hear a lot more from going on.

People were walking out of my theater. I thought it started great, and up until he shot the dog i thought the movie was going to be good. But it really slowed down, and from the people that did like it, when asked why they really seemed to have to dig for a reason. I dont know, my favorite part was "look at that fing bone"

It's hard to quantify. I liked every part of the movie. The scene I liked most was probably at the rural gas station where he asks the old man to call the coin flip in the air. Subtlety and dialogue are not everybody's cup of tea...

I think some people don't understand quality film making. Others hate when they don't get everything wrapped up in a nice little bow at the end.

Me, I think No Country is far and away the film of the year.

Never heard of Javier Bardem? Dude has been in tons of movies and has an academy award nomination for best actor under his belt. Before Night Falls, the Sea Inside. What does it take for a guy to get noticed?

I'd wait until I saw There Will Be Blood, before I made any decisions.

Doesn't that one come out until January? Have you seen it?

PT can drop some incredible films. Love his work.

Stop doing nothing but ArtHouse.

Limited release in December. I haven't see it yet, obviously, but I've been anticipating it for quite some time.

Well, if it's anything like other Coen movies, I'm sure I'll hate it. If not, then I might like it. From what I've seen it looks pretty good, but it also doesn't look like a Coen movie.

Other than seeing Collateral (where he's the 13th actor listed) and reading articles of other movies he's come out with this past year, which I've noticed many of recently, I suppose it would require me being an avid fan of foreign language films (if that's what you mean by "tons of movies").

His filmography:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000849/

He was nominated for a role in Before Night Falls - one of many movies I've yet to see.

No surprise that he's getting more press now that, as CR suggested, he "stopped doing nothing but ArtHouse".

I love all the little touches in the movie.

My favorite thing is how Anton always checks to make sure his boots are clean. There is one scene in the movie where that provides a huge clue on what happened.

If Daniel Day-Lewis is making a movie, then yeah, take notice. What's this, like his third movie in ten years? That's unfortunate.

You asked what it would take to get recognized. Do a movie with funding.

If an academy award nomination isn't enough....

Perhaps he should do crap like Fred Claus.

1) He is getting more recognized now. It just takes time when you make movies very few people see. (see #2)

2) He was nominated seven years ago for a movie that grossed under $4.5 million and played, at its PEAK, in 127 theaters nationwide (which means it did well in the venues it played in, but it was far from a wide release). A majority of his resume is filled with foreign language film credits. Is it that surprising he flew under the radar in this country?

3) Why does it have to be one extreme or the other? There are good movies to be found in between the indie scene and movies like Fred Claus (some digging required, I will admit).
