I just saw the Texans flagged for this. Damn, put a dress on them.

SIRIUS radio did a show about this one time in the offseason when it became a rule change. Basically, the deep snapper has to look through his legs the entire time and every opposing teams strategy is just to basically kill the guy and rattle him into a mistake. So alot of those guys get serious long term injuries. It was designed to prevent this. I like smash em up football as much as the next guy, in fact I think the QBs are too protected and would like to see their protections scaled back but I don't see how the deep snapper rule could fundamentally change the game to I don't see it as a bad thing.

It should make it easier to find deep snappers I'd think.

Reminds me of when we played football in the back yard. The first thing out of everyone's mouth was "No creaming the center". (of course that could have different connotations in today's world.)
:lmao2: :lmao:

Do you remember that CBZ?

Sucks that it's an automatic first down though. It gave Denver 4 more points in this game, I could see it determining the outcome of a game sometime this season.

That's right. You can't "can" the center. (Deep Snapper).

It's a pretty easy penalty to avoid, though. It's not like it's a "heat of the moment" penalty like a hold or a facemask or a pass interferance. Just don't line up over the center and you should be fine.

Yeah? Well we had star thistles, and ants and the field was uphill in both directions!!:p:

And rocks. I forgot the rocks.

Looks like another rule is that you can't gain yards on a fumble in the last 2 minutes of a half. This game is proving to be quite informative.

Yeah, well, played in Yucca Flats and there were unexploded munissions and if you stepped wrong, you had the ultimate penalty. AND it was uphill in both directions. Not to mention the fire ants. ;)

Kind of gives a new meaning for going out long for a bomb, doesn't it?

Yeah, there were certain phrases we avoided. That was one of them.

Another was "He just killed the receiver" You just never knew! :D
