No Cowboys Throwback Helmets

Its not the helmets are "old" its just that the players don't wear them game after game. So they would basically be wearing helmets they haven't worn before, and the league thinks that uncomfortableness will lead to them not being secured properly, or being protective enough to prevent head injuries. Hence, no helmets.

Yea, but that whole notion is borderline ********.

It shouldn't take an NFL player more than a couple hours to get used to wearing a new helmet I wouldn't think, and they can practice with them the week of.

Its not like they are getting a new style or anything...they dont have to swtich from a Schutt to a Riddell or anything like that. This is kind of like saying you cant wear new cleats b/c they are uncomfortable.

The silver helmets don't match their throwbacks. Surely they're not going to even try that.

I think the Cowboys are due a uni update myself. It 's those pants.

Just wear the throwback jerseys with the silver road pants and the silver helmet. Problem solved.

Well the training camp jerseys are navy with white sleeves and they wear those with the silver helmet. So maybe they will opt to wear the jersey with the silver helmet and pants.

No offense but I thought women were supposed to be better with the whole matching of colors thing? The throwbacks dont work with the silver helmet regardless of pants because there is no white on the helmet to match the jersey.

Update: 2 teams have decided to use current helmet with old logos

"Two teams have informed PFT that the throwbacks will be used with their current helmets. The Vikings will apply their now-defunct two-dimensional horn decals and gray face masks to the new purple helmets with a matte finish. The Packers will remove the stripes and decals from their yellow helmets."

So if we use throwbacks, that could be the route we use. I wouldn't think it'd be THAT hard for NFL teams to simply repaint the helmet. Notre Dame does that every single week.

The traditional blue jerseys have white numbers so... I'm not saying it's the best look, but if they want to wear the throwbacks, that's one way.

The NFL Competition Committee told NFL teams not to wear Throwback helmets. The short version was they feel players shouldn't switch to a different helmet they aren't used to wearing and playing in, just for appearences. The league didn't say you can't wear throwbacks, but if Dallas wants to wear its Thanksgiving Throwbacks, it would have to do so with the Silver Helmet.

Surely the NFL and teams could afford to just remove the decal, and paint the helmets the players are comfortable with? It's not like a throwback helmet is the same technology worn in 1960. Its just a different color shell essentially.

What about the silver helmet with the solid blue star from the white helmet? Just a thought. Bills switched logos to throwback because they could use the same helmet, Bears took off their C for their throwbacks so they could use the same. Use the same helmet and change the star for a game? Might not match, but who cares! lol

Probably the right move although I'm not sure it makes a difference. At least lawyers can't introduce this as another mistake by the NFL in protecting players.
