Yea, but that whole notion is borderline ********.Its not the helmets are "old" its just that the players don't wear them game after game. So they would basically be wearing helmets they haven't worn before, and the league thinks that uncomfortableness will lead to them not being secured properly, or being protective enough to prevent head injuries. Hence, no helmets.
It shouldn't take an NFL player more than a couple hours to get used to wearing a new helmet I wouldn't think, and they can practice with them the week of.
Its not like they are getting a new style or anything...they dont have to swtich from a Schutt to a Riddell or anything like that. This is kind of like saying you cant wear new cleats b/c they are uncomfortable.
