NO Hornets will be 1 seed

I do not see them dropping from that spot....They won two games they could have easily lost recently, Boston and Cleveland....they have a 2 game lead in the loss column over the 2nd place teams.....even if Boston beats them tonight, they still have a lead, and a favorable schedule.

So since I am giving the Hornets the 1 seed.....who will be the 2 seed? The answer to this one is very complex, since the Spurs, Lakers, and Rockets are all tied in the standings. However, if the Spurs simply win out, they are the 2 seed, as they would have beaten the Lakers, Rockets, Jazz, Nuggets (twice), and PHX. Thus, they would be the only team in the West, besides NO, with 23 or less losses.

I am not a Laker or Rocket fan, but I am sure if either of those teams wins out, they will get the 2 seed.....I believe the Lakers and Rockets play one more time, but do not hold me to that.

Spurs vs Minnesota - GO SPURS GO
Philly vs PHX - GO SIXERS
Boston vs New Orleans - GO CELTS
Lakers vs Memphis - GO GRIZZ (the Lakers are going to destroy them unfortunately)

Wouldn't the Lakers get the 2 seed by virtue of being a division winner? Or is that no longer a rule?

It's entirely possible, but not overly important this yr.

My darkhorse to win the West is Utah.

I think its still the rule because Utah held a higher seed than some other teams a few weeks ago and their record was worse.

Interesting choice. Why do you say that? Just a hunch?

Yeah. Nothing more. But I do really like the combo of Boozer and Williams who is an underrated big game player. I think LA still tends to rely on Kobe and it will hamper them in the playoffs. NO-- are they ready to compete for a championship? I don't think so.

No. After the 2005-06 season it has been seeded by record only, except that the other two division winners can be seeded no worse than third and fourth.

But even that is in name only if the lower seeds they are playing finish with better records (that might happen again to Utah this year), in which case the lower seed would have homecourt advantage in the first round.
