I can't be mad at that. What happened last time someone "assumed" that a guy was down? Didn't Heath and Carter let a tight end walk into the endzone and looked foolish?

Well, I think it's OK to discuss the little things b/c the little things are what will lose you a game. Thankfully Dallas was able to overcome today, but every game is different

obv. you don't want that PF to happen but he's young, he'll learn from it and hopefully not do it again. I'm not talking from a coach standpoint.

I was at the game.

When that play happened in real time and from the angle I was viewing it ( I was pretty close - great seats ) I thought the receiver was still trying to make a play.

Although late, when seen via replay, it looked worse than it looked - at least to me.

I said it at the beginning of the year and I feel the same way now, these young guys are only gonna get better, JJ Wilcox, TWILL, FRED, Escobar, Beasley, and even BW Webb. They all have made their mistakes and gonna make more but will be a strong nucleous for years to come. Think the Cowboys found some good young talent to grow into stars.

yup........their learning curve isn't as accelerated on the bench. For years we beotched that promising young players couldn't get off the pine .....Young players are gonna make some mistakes, the key is that they learn from them quickly.

two good posts here. Certainly a fair point Rocyaice raises, then to Kapolani's point I thought the same thing watching live. It looked like Moss had got up and tried to run (that looked like how wilcox was explaining it on the sideline) but the replay makes it look different.

Well, all he had to do was touch the guy, not spear him while he's down...

Yea its a tough play and it very well could've cost us the game yesterday. But it wasn't a foolish play where the kid was playing with emotion. He was trying to do the right thing. That's a rookie mistake I can live with. I can't quite live with that Heath/Bruce Carter play though.

Well, all he had to do was touch the guy, not spear him while he's down...

That's also a good point.

I think Wilcox, T. Williams, and Beasley are definitely going to be staples of this team in the future.

Frederick already is. I bet that freshly served crow is getting cold though, because the haters of that pick won't eat it, because they never eat crow.

Escobar I'm not sure on. I hope he comes around, though. Has the potential to be a good addition if he becomes what the coaches think he can.

BW Webb is simply not ready for the big time, but I'm sure he's got the right attitude and the physical talent.

Wilcox is just an example of this defense. A 3rd round rookie from Georgia Southern. He was drafted way to early and isn't ready for the nfl.

well heath is starting over him and he is an undrafted rookie from no name valley state so what does that say?

I'd rather have that penalty than put a guy out there who is afraid to stick his nose in there and try to make a tackle.

Exactly, this is something he can (and will) learn from. He won't make that mistake again.

That's says why we have the worse pass defense in the nfl

Well that and highly depleted DL,,,, its not a secret the defense is bad. Yet, its not bad because of the young's are doing something wrong they have been thrown to the wolves while the fans expect them all to be stars as soon as they hit the field. The truth is, these young guys are benefiting from quality coaching and lots of playing time. Im sure it is not what the Cowboys wanted, but the team will start seeings the benefits next year.

yes the deleted DL and LB corp hurts the defense, but that doesn't take away from the bad play from Heath and Wilcox. If you go back to ee what I said about wilcox. then with you above statement you would agree. I said Wilcox is a young over drafted player that isn't ready. Heath is the same except not be over drafted. neither should be starting.

Wilcox has one year of starting safety experience at Georgia Southern, he was a WR before his senior year and we drafted him the the 3rd based off his potential. Wilcox should not be starting and neither should Heath. Heath played terrible through most of the season. he has one int and people love him. Heath and Wilcox should be back ups and special team players like Church was his first few years.

I a
come on man.. he's a young pup. He was playing offense until his last year, at Ga So no less.
Give him time… in three years if he makes that play, than you can call him dumb.
i agree, I was pissed in the moment, but over all he's been a little bit of a surprise. Remember, like 60 percent of the defense he wasn't suppose to start.

Agree they should of been back ups at this point in their career, but getting those first team reps, watching and learning in the film room, learning how to communicate and make adjustments on the field has sets these cats up for success next year. As long as they stay humble and keep there head in the game they will be ahead of there projected schedule. Yes, they should of been backups and probably would of been backups on any other team. Yet, they got the opportunity and I think they are doing a fine job.

Unlike most of the fan base, I just don't expect a lot out of the rookies except, get out there hustle and show improvement every game. Yes they will, have, and will again make mistakes....but that is what rookies do. I see your point, but the next man up on this defense is the rookies. I actually wanted the Cowboys to get DJ Swearinger in the draft and my fall back safety was JJ Wilcox. IMO he was a steal and I have no idea were Heath came from. The cat just found away to get on the field and that says a lot about him. Not the best but making the best of his opportunities.

If you are going to have a Wilcox thread then may as well have a Clutts thread too. That guy really lived up to his name against the Skins. First a fumble then he gets buried on that last carry by Murray.

The NFL is full of **** because if Moss would have got up and scored Wilcox would get blamed for allowing him to score.
