(12:01 AM): Aggie QB star of star game thriller… Texas A&M QB Reggie McNeal capped off a solid week of practices as he lead the West to a come-from-behind 35-31 win over the East in yesterday’s Shrine all-star game in San Antonio. McNeal hit Oregon State WR Mike Hass :starspin with a 23-yard touchdown pass with two minutes left to put the West in front and then the West made a goal line stand on the final play to clinch the win. The East, which saw a 10-point lead evaporate in the final five minutes, had a chance to win when Hofstra WR Marques Colston  caught a desperation pass just short of the end zone with one second left, but Arkansas RB De'Arrius Howard, who had already run for three touchdowns, was stopped short of the goal line as time expired. McNeal, who struggled through an inconsistent senior season, completed 9 of 11 passes for 211 yards and 2 scores and added 32 more yards on 4 rushes to claim MVP honors and perhaps quell, at least for now, thoughts that he might be better off switching positions at the next level. Meanwhile, the East won a tight 10-7 defensive battle in the Hula Bowl the day’s other all-star game. Florida DE Jeremy Mincey was the star in that one as the hybrid DE/OLB racked up 3 sacks. ;) We will have full game reviews from both the Shrine and Hula games, but only after we get back from next week’s Senior Bowl practices in Mobile.
