Young on a growing list of 'Mama's Boys'


Titans quarterback Vince Young is one of eight "Mama's Boys" who will be featured in Campbell's Chunky soup commercials this season.

The Houston native and former Texas star will be joined by fellow NFL players LaDainian Tomlinson, Matt Hasselbeck, Larry Johnson, Jonathan Vilma, DeMarcus Ware, Devin Hester and Todd Heap.

The eight will be the largest group of NFL players to promote the soup, which is in its 10th season of featuring the league's players.

"With our biggest roster of NFL players and more team sponsorships than ever before, we anticipate an exciting year with the NFL," said Doug Johns, senior brand manager for Campbell's Chunky soup.

All eight players and a combination of their moms will appear in television and print ads set to debut when the NFL regular season opens Sept. 6.

Given how many Cowboy games will be televised nationally this year, I bet we will see a lot of Ware which is just fine with me. Wonder how much money Campbell pays these guys for their participation and what they do with it. Do they just add to their bank account or do some donate a portion to their favorite charities? BTW: I like Campbell soups despite McNabb.

If true, that is one hell of a lineup that will be cursed. LJ, LT, Hester, Heap, Vilma and Ware.

The difference is Ware will not be puking up the CHUNKY soup on the field.

Campbell's going for the big lineup is a hedge against their cover boy getting injured in the first game of the season. Oops. Or stinking it up super bad all year long. Ooops. This way, they cover a lot of bets, with one or two likely to have a monster year.

And they can throw in a bunch more different commercials, so you don't get the 'thousand view stare' from Chunky-land.....

He's a star on the field (especially in Phillip's defense), plays in the most popular league for the most popular team, he's likeable and handsome. A few things happen just right for him (big games on a championship drive) and he's gonna make some good money pitching product.
