Smart move, really. Honestly, I was hoping for exactly this from Jones. Whether sincere or calculated, the guy is making an effort to show change. "Pacman" Jones is a guy known for a lack of good judgment. Adam Jones is a guy who wants to be known as a football player. Good for him, hope it's the real deal.

Pacm...i mean Adam really liked his nickname so this tells me others are pulling the strings big time. Which might be good for now but long term, i think could be dangerous for a young guy. He has to find himself, not others tell him who he is.

This is a sad day for Americans everywhere. The government has tricked Packman into using his christian/government name. This is unacceptable. We must rise up as a people and overturn this horrible conspiracy by the evil government. Nav22 was right. Something must be done! I for one will continue to call him Packman. As an aside, Pacman will probably still be called Pac or Pacman by close friends, family, and more than likely his teammates. These will be the people who are closest to him and will have that leeway. But as part of taking a professional approach to his life, he's going to have everyone else refer to him as Adam.

I don't know how many people grow up being called by their nickname 100% of the time and then when they got older, began to prefer their 'guv'ment' name by those outside of their circle. It's not a novel approach.

He probably received a little influence from Deion on this one. I saw Prime on NFL Network shortly after Adam was reinstated and and he made a point to correct the host/analyst that it's Adam Jones and to get away from "Pacman."

You are obviously part of the problem. Nav came here to try to save Jones by letting him keep his preferred name. Now you and others have teamed up with Judge Dread (Goodell) to force him to go by his government name (which was forced upon him by the feds). You should be more informed before posting in these types of threads. I'm sure Nav22 has some web links that he can send you.
