......it works most of the time and it further opens things up. Why not use it?

They've run the option the past few games, Dak just hasn't kept the ball and run it. I assume he's making the correct read, though there was at least one play yesterday he gave it to Zeke that he should have pulled and run it. I am sure teams are keeping a closer eye on it, so letting Zeke keep it may be working.

Pretty sure they've run it, he just hasn't kept it, presumably because the ends aren't crashing down the way the Giants' end did.
..ahh.. I see. Maybe I'm missing those ends coming in.

I also noticed one where the end was playing outside contain, so he passed it instead.

When teams overcommit their ends to crashing inside to stop Elliott, that's when Dak is supposed to take advantage, so it's not going to happen every game.

What about the “traditional” pitch option play they ran that one time for an easy td?

I think there was also some version of that they used once and it worked well. Can’t remember what it was, but remember thinking that it worked so well we’d probably never see it again.

Maybe it allows dak to read the field better and more quickly. Faking it to elliot on pass plays takes too much time and imo he focus too much on 1, maybe 2 reads at best.

Simply dropping back and going thru 1 2 and 3 reads seem much better.

The read-OP is just too much going on. When dak finally pulls the ball up he doesn't know where he is going and if that read 1 is covered he panics.

That time during the fake also allows the blocking to break down which makes things even worse.

The read option imo only works when it's a straight up designed run that dak not only knows is a run, but don't have to put too much thinking into the pass after the fact.

Dallas needs to just keep things simple.

I saw twice they ran it that would have paid off big time. Once would have been a TD. Don’t know why he isn’t keeping it.

I believe he's nursing a minor injury and is perhaps hesitant to take hits. Like the previous poster mentioned, a few times he could've run for at least 20 yards.

They ran the option the opening drive against Detroit he gave it to elliott

Man do you watch the games or do you not know what the option is? They ran it a couple times, Dak just gave it instead of keeping it. The D dictates if he run or not....smh

Wut? I don't think you know what these terms mean.

If they do use it more, Dak has to be smarter and slide every time. Don't be a hero and take on hits. It may not look heroic, but there's a reason Wilson has lasted this long in the league playing that way

That pitch option play to Austin worked so well that they scratched it out of the playbook. Garrett likes to work on plays that don't work and keep working on it till it finally does.
