No playoffs for the Cowboys again?

Anyone predicting anything right now before the draft, OTA’s, mini-camps and training camp is just wasting their time. The 54 hasn’t even began to be established yet for crying out loud. All that doesn’t even touch on the fact of an entire new coaching staff. I know most here enjoy being always negative but my Lord

Not sure who you’re talking about but I never said any of that.
Forecasting potential results are always a risky venture but we can base them on recent history and current trends coupled with actions taken to curb or improve.

I think most sound analysis would present the Cowboys will be challenged to make the playoffs this season. That doesn’t mean it isn’t possible . And I even added we could be contending which left open the possibility.

I challenge anyone to provide their opinion or argument on their stance why they believe or see this team will make the playoffs or have a greater opportunity than many others see or predict.

Simply shooting down the messenger cause you don’t like the message isn’t an argument.

I welcome arguments the Cowboys will make the playoffs. I haven’t heard any yet.

Simply shooting down the messenger because you don’t like the message isn’t providing a substantial argument.
the critic i allegedly "shot down" doesn't have a message.
we have 0 idea who will or won't make the playoffs in april.
we will in november.
sunlight is the best disenfectant.

But hope isn’t a plan , simply an outlook.

While we obviously don’t know exactly who will make the playoffs we can make some speculation based on recent history and current trends.

This is all part of a fan forum , social media , etc.

I’d like to hear why you see the Cowboys making the playoffs this year.

Simply shooting down a message you don’t like without providing your argument isn’t productive.

I’m actually going to change my mind on this…

Similar to last year, if this team has virtually NO injuries of significance, and 4-5 draft picks can play like higher end vets…..but this time throw in a significant hammy injury to the QB…they have a chance to steal nine or so wins and a seven seed and get absolutely smacked on the road in round one.

Then Jerry and Stephen claim how close they are and continue the same act.

They will need some different excuses this time around, as the above ain’t happening and can’t play the injury card every year.

I dont get how anyone at this point can say the Cowboys will not be making the playoffs this season. We saw how one draft and off seasons turned around the fortunes of one team (Detroit) in a blink of an eye. If the Cowboys can add a WR2, RB, CB, DL, and Edge in either the draft, FA or trade this team can be back to the elite in the division. What exactly has Philly done to better themselves since last season ended? All they have done is release or lose players!!! Yes Washington got better with Samuel and Tunsil, but so have the Cowboys with some solid additions in my eyes.

Lol, we haven’t even had the draft yet. You get a Jeanty, Judkins, Henderson type back and Tet, Golden type WR this thing looks a lot different folks.

I’d argue Detroit didn’t turn the corner in a blink of an eye. 2022 they actually were trending up barely missing the playoffs . And in 2023 most predicted they’d make the playoffs with roster they had built .

Which all goes back to basing these predictions on recent history and current trends.

While there’s certainly a few surprises each season I’d argue closer to 75% of playoff teams are from previous seasons. And why the recent history and current trends plays a major role when forecasting.

I’m not sure there’s many handicappers out there beyond some rose colored Cowboy fans who see this team as a solid playoff team. That said , yes, they could be playoff contenders . Anything is possible . They just don’t appear to be an up and coming team trending in the right direction. We shall see.

I have us at 8-9 wins. Jerry is now desperately rushing around trying to build a team that can contend for a playoff spot.

I’ve got them there if the two miracles I mentioned take place. They won’t.

The team they build is never good enough, and they count on too much going right….always.

These teams can never win 3-4 playoff games in a row on the road. They need to get the one seed and hope to not choke at home yet again. They aren’t even remotely close to that happening.

So….I’m not at all rooting to “make the playoffs” and continue to watch the same act year after year. Rather see Jerry fall on his face. Then just maybe the kid will come to his senses when it’s time instead of continuing to insist they’ve got this after several losing seasons in a row. Need real change and that’s the only way.

Jerry builds teams that can beat the bad teams. That's what we'll do this year. More WRs and RBs and CBs. Maybe a TE. As soon as we draft those positions in rounds 1-3, then we'll be assured that Jerry is still the worst GM in the NFL. Why? Because those positions are not going to get us there.

Yep, we are on the same page.

Based on past struggles, we know the areas where the Cowboys are weak. Did the FA signings adequately address those weaknesses? Only time will tell, but judging by the low level signings, it doesn't look good.

However, one of the best farm dogs I've ever had was a little stray who weighed maybe 30 lbs. He didn't look like much but that little dog packed a 100 lbs of fight in his little frame. It ain't always the big dogs that can take down a coyote.

The upcoming season is a mystery and anything can happen. We can't know for sure how it will unfold, but predictions based on past factors can be an indicator, even if they can't possibly know which small signing will turn out to be a top dog.

So I don't expect playoffs this year but I do expect this team to be building something of grandeur for the immediate future. They have too many unanswered pieces to fill to do so in one year. They can make it competitive this season and be a spoiler for some teams. But in year 2 and 3 of Shotty's tenure we should be a contender. Future is looking up in Big D.

Opposite. Jerry will take WRs and CBs and build for now.

Injuries did play a factor last year, but what was expected? Diggs is now labelled injury-prone and CANNOT be counted upon to be healthy and a consistent player. Overshown was injured yet again, and what was expected? I love the kid but he CANNOT be counted upon to be on the field consistently. Dak? Well, you know. Zach? Well, you know and I love him. D Law? Well, he's gone for a reason. Sure they are injuries, but anybody could have predicted these, and Jerry et al, had as always no plan to deal with this. Thus, these expected injuries are not an excuse, but a result of poor management/ownership.

As for playoffs next year? Why on earth do we want to be a WC team? Numerous teams have improved in the off-season, and we have more question marks than answers. The only answer is to rebuild, but knowing Jerry we go 9-8 and find a way to make it to a WC just to punch our plane ticket home early

as for shooting down a "message"...the person i originally responded to...further up the chain...has no message...its a schtick.
the cult of miserables.
