If there's a silver lining to the OL performance yesterday, it's this. According to Football Outsiders' DVOA, New Orleans doesn't just have the best rushing defense in the league. They have far and away the best rushing defense in the league. They're as far ahead of the #2 team (SF) as SF is ahead of the #18 team (our very own Dallas Cowboys).
No, that doesn't forgive the rushing woes in previous weeks, but I have some optimism that with 10 days off and more time under the current OL configuration, things will get better. Even if they were already, we weren't likely to see the benefits last night.
I'll note that WAS has the #7 rushing defense and the #30 passing defense. If we go into that game with the thought of "establishing the run" and handing it off to Zeke between the tackles on every first and/or second down, I'll scream. That's a game that screams for the game plan we used against the Bucs.
