I don't know there were 4-3 defense this past season that gave Wash trouble. I'm not as concerned with the Skins option as I am the zone blocking and RB using cut back lanes to gain big yards. It worked for Shannahan in Denver and they do it in Washington with Morris who gained over 1,600 yards. Morris carved Dallas with 313 yards in the 2 games we played

Of course, by the time we faced Wash the first time (Thanksgiving), our defense was a MASH unit. And by the last game I don't think they could've stopped anybody. And as far as Kiffin goes, I think we'll be fine. Hopefully the defense won't suffer NEARLY as many injuries as last year.

It was a pretty good video and Mason at Stanford was right that you MUST take away the run or else they will have their way with you. I think Ryan didn't coach the D well. Of course it didn't help when half of our starters were out with injuries.

No doubt about that, heck washington ran the ball more than they threw it. They had 519 rushing attempts to only 442 passing attempts.

Seahawks were another team who ran more than they threw the ball 536 runs to on 405 passes. Yet seems I have been told you can't win in the NFL this way. lol

IMO, it's more about the actual defensive players. A 3-4 with Bradie James and the old version of Keith Brooking would be terrible against the read-option.

I see the read-option as a finesse type play. Kiffin's defense with the current Cowboys Personnel should be good against finesse type plays due to above average speed across the board.

I'm more concerned about the Cowboys' defense against power running plays and power backs.

you need to get pressue with the front 4 against the run. if those guys do their jobs as directed, the 3 linebackers are left to take the RB, that's a win for the LB every time.
