No team in NFL history could benefit more with a coaching change

First I'd like to begin by saying that I believe Wade Phillips is a nice man,a good man-which in the big picture is more important than being a good coach. However, this site is not here to have fans debate who the good samaritans are.We are here because we have a passion for football and a particular football team.Wade Phillips paralyzes the chances of this team winning-point blank. If we had Tom Brady instead of Tony Romo,it might be different. There has to be a leader SOMEWHERE.
Looking back on our great 90s teams,I compare the current Phillips' regime to the Barry Switzer era.A "players coach" who was looked at as a buffoon by many publicly, but loved by his team. One big difference:the QB position. For those who can remember,Troy Aikman did not like Switzers' culture and lack of attention to detail. And he made it known.Even as a normally soft-spoken leader that Aikman was,he felt the team wasn't being pushed hard enough and he said so.It was more important for Aikman to contend than worry about the ramifications of his words. He knew SOMEBODY had to say SOMETHING.
With the current structure in place,we have no leader,no backbone,no voice,no accountability. We have people who hope we get things fixed, but have no plan as to how to fix things.Tony Romo should be at the practice facility early every morning with Jason Garrett and the rest of the skill guys until.Yes,until.It's obvious we aren't prepared enough in game situations. So,if you're lacking in preparation, what is the only cure? You guessed it:pRACTICE.And it's not until Wade says you can go home. It's until.
And until we get a new head coach,we will never maximize our obvious ability and potential to be a contending football team.

At least now is the best time in forever to look for coaching. There are several super bowl champion coaches available.

I believe that Wade is great too. Wonderful Papa, sweet old man bearing many gifts during Christmas. But that's about all he'll bear around that time. He sure as heck doesn't appear to be holstering any balls in that big sack of his. We need a leader, Wade ain't it.

Yep, and as I stated in an earlier thread it's got to be Holmgren. He's a no-nonsense meticulous coach who developed Favre and will demand excellence. We must develop Romo, not throw him away and he's the guy to do it.

I believe Jerry will be ready to release some of the reigns for no other reason other than it will appease season ticket holders and corporate sponsors. Jerry might not understand football, but he understands restless natives with deep pockets and short arms.

I don't see it. I think the Cowboys could use a better coach but I think people overrate the talent on this team. ITs definately talented but every team in the league is talented. Its abotu depth. I don't think the Cowboys have that.

Something else I've thought about that I wonder if JJ has...Your draft picks are worth their weight in gold.Yeah, you have to write them some big checks sometimes, but has Jerry ever stopped to think that Wade is actually devaluing his dollars by bringing these rookies into his culture?I mean the rookies only know one way in the NFL-Wade's Way.Do we even know who we have with our young guys?

I agree. I must say, I wince at the notion that a coaching change is going to just change our problems over night. I think coaching is part of the problem, but I think another part of the problem is that we lean heavily on a number of mistake-prone players, excuse-filled players or just overhyped players.

I agree the depth is weak-if any of the O-line starters missed any significant time,we'd be screwed. But this team has been pretty fortunate so far on the injury front. And depth hasn't been the cause for these two losses-execution and preparation has.

I agree, I think Holmgren will be the next coach. Him and Jerry are friends, and I don't think he'll bang heads with Jerry like a Cowher may do. I'm not saying that Holmgren is a push over, I just think that Holmgren could get things done that he would want while convincing Jerry to see it the same way. I love Jerry Jones, no matter what any other fan may say about him, he wants to win. Let me say that again, HE WANTS TO WIN. I just wonder if we stick with the 3-4 if Holmgren is hired or do we switch to 4-3.

I like Wade Phillips, I root for him because, well, how could you really HATE the guy. Not saying you have to agree with him or his calls, but the guy isn't some jerk, he isn't some lazy *** coach that is just pulling a paycheck. He just may not be a champion head coach (or playoff winning head coach for that matter). He's good, but this team can be much better than good, and other than telling Goodell to pull a madden and turn off the salary cap, allow trades to be forced through, we aren't going to be able to get superstars at every position (i.e. safety). So to make the biggest improvement with the least amount of moves would be to hire a new head coach.

Of course, we haven't even discussed the possibility of Garrett being the head coach.............

Hopefully fans in Dallas will be blowing up the sports talk shows letting Jerry know exactly what we think of his decision to stick with Wade. He should of been fired 2 years ago.

I agree. We have all of the above on this team especially the mistake prone players. That being said, i'm not gonna write Wade off. I'm an idiot I know but i'm going to let him ride the season out. But I will say that Wade isn't the only problem. I came to this conclusion when I saw the same mistakes being made now are the same things I saw under the Parcells umbrella.

Fired 2 years ago? After the 13-3 season? That's ridiculous. And if I were calling into sports radio shows i'd spend more time on getting Romo back on track than worrying about Wade. Wade's more than likely not going to make it after this season with all the coaches out there. Let him finish it out and go after the Holgrem's, Gruden's and if he wants to coach the Cowher's.

With the climate issues you have with Denver depth would've been a luxury today. Especially on the defensive line and the secondary. I'm not using it as an excuse. And you know we lost to the Giants by 2 points and lost to the Bronco's at home. We're not in a terrible spot.

I said it after we went 13-3 on this message board and I stand by it to this day. The writing was on the wall back then in my opinion. This team has not improved under his guidance and will not improve as long as he is running the show. Where is the dominant defense Jerry and Wade have been promising us? He hasnt even improved the defense, let alone the team.

Jerry is going to have to make a move, I just dont see 100,000 showing up week in and week out to watch a .500 ball club.

When the stadium starts having empty seats, that is when Jerry will make a move. Jerry might not understand football, but he sure understands money.

I heard Champ Bailey on Sirius Radio talking about the last 2 plays against Hurd. He said he had to credit the coaching staff because they imediately knew what Dallas was going to do when they saw what personnel group we had in the game. He said they had practiced the exact situation during the week.

:cry2::cry3::cry:

I want some of that action. We need coaching changes from the top to the bottom.

Wade has a proven track record of fail as a HC i don't know why Jerry or anyone else thought it would somehow be different this season. People who think coaching doesn't matter should watch the 49'ers, they where a play away from being 4-0 and it's damn near the same team they had last season

I so wish we had hired Singletary, but we are stuck with Cupcake and Tecmo blowing another game.

Seeya Jason...Take your lame one hit wonder play calling to St Louis or Oakland or something where it belongs. You can take Wade with ya. Maybe we trade Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett to the raiders for Nnamdi Asomugha? What do you guys think? We can tell Al Davis that Wade runs a 4.26 40 and Jason Garrett can bench 1,200 pounds 46 times...he's down for anything.
