No touchbacks for Beuhler last night?

I don't remember seeing any.

He did make two tackles on the kickoffs.

His kicks weren't very deep last night. Maybe he was trying to get a little more hangtime?

I hope some Delilah didn't sap his strength the previous night.

I hope he isn't losing his leg strength. Maybe all this scoring the Cowboys are doing is taking it's toll on his leg.:)

I took notice of that last night as well. I can't come down to hard on the kid he's Been awesome this year. Thank God that E-girl player held on the kickoff. Hopefully he gets some rest for Lambeau.

I was wondering if his kicks would get shorter in cold weather. Grew up as a Southern California kid. Maybe he is not used to kicking not used to the colder weather. I think it was only something like 46 degrees at kickoff, but that is cold in So. Cal.

Just a theory.

It's possible. He and McBriar each had some uncharacteristic kicks, though, so I think it had more to do with the game plan.

Someone angered him during warmups so he kicked it short intentionally so he could go tackle people.

He kicked some horrible kicks. I kept waiting for an explanation of maybe wind or something. But he made up for them. He loves contact.

Probably shooting for hang time vs. distance against Jackson.

Either that or he's a complete bust and waste of a draft pick.

I thought it was part of the game plan.

He kicked a high one that coverage made the tackle on the 15...that's better than a touchback.

Then he kicked another high one that was covered poorly for a td return (thank goodness for the penalty).

Then the next one was really short and hit the ground around the 10 without being caught...a great spot, but returned to around the 25 or so I think.

All in all, it looked like the coach didn't want to see any touchback attempts come up short...looked like we had a lot of respect for Philly's special teams units.

On the other hand, our kickoff returns were the most pathetic they've been all year, imo.

I was wondering/concerned that he is hitting folks hard (I noticed two tackles he had on kickoffs), do you believe he has a nagging injury or is tired therefore, he cannot make the endzone?

He needed a challenge so he replaced the air in the ball with concrete.

In all seriousness, he was kicking dirctionaly and with a higher ark, so that the the returner is cornered into working with a smaler area of the field, and so that the coverage can meet the bsll as close as possibe.

With dangerous returners like Philly has, it was a smart way to kick.

Besides, Buehler is King so how dare we peasants question him? :laugh2:

At least when he is in there on KO's they are not playing 10 on 11 like everybody else. Saw him in on a tackle or two where they normally should occur, not after somebody busts a long one.

This. I think the plan with Coach D here was to attempt to get our coverage downfield to tackle them before they reached the 20 yard line, which worked on a couple of equations. Why give them a free shot to start at the 20 with a touchback when we've been covering kicks as well as we have?

Well, both Jackson and Maclin are threats to take it to the house.
I could see the game plan being, kick high so the coverage units get there in time and force fair catches.

In cold weather it's hard to kick for distance (especially if there's wind-due to going against it, or losing accuracy), so it would make sense for them to play it safe.

I wouldn't be too worried, he clearly has the leg.

DeCamillis has been our BEST off-season pickup WITHOUT A DOUBT.

Even without touchbacks, the coverage unit has done a complete 180 from the last few seasons. They are disiplined and make tackles. They might let a few get by them, but I stress...a few. AMAZING.

Plus...Buehler not getting it into the endzone? It's ok, the guy is running down field and making tackles himself. How often do kickers stand back and wait (and miss)?

I noticed that too. Luckily, on almost all of his kickoffs, we were able to pin the Eagles right around their own 20.
