It's not really an odd premise. He does have that big body and he has been working his bigt off all offseason. Noah is going to make the squad. That's my bold prediction. Will it be at WR or possibly TE? Hmmmm....

a Niles Paul, move to tight end for Cowboys?

The Dallas Cowboys are known to move players from one position to another during the offseason. Most of the transitions happen when a player is in danger of losing his roster spot because there is an abundance of competition for the current position. Sometimes, the move works out splendidly as it did recently with making linebacker Keith Smith one of the league’s better blocking fullbacks. It might just be time for Dallas to try its hand at another transition.

The Cowboys should investigate moving second-year wide receiver Noah Brown to a pass-catching tight end position.

Brown came into the league as a seventh-round pick out of Ohio State, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 222 pounds. He’s a physically imposing force as a wideout, though currently undersized for the tight end position. His run blocking as a rookie was rather impressive, as Pro Football Focus gave him the best grade among Cowboys’ wideouts at the skill on 113 run-block snaps.

This wouldn’t be unprecedented at all. Six years ago, Washington suggested a similar transition for their bottom-roster wide receiver Niles Paul. Paul features a similar build as Brown, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 224 pounds when entering the league out of Nebraska.

Rico makes the final 53 too. That's my other bold prediction. Rico is ready.
I seen enough last camp to think he could play
The question with him is getting to be more about attitude than ability
I’m a huge fan of his athletic ability but I’m questioning his mental part
And that’s not about his tweets but a lot about his words to media

I think one of the big priorities Dallas is looking for at TE is blocking ability, I don't see Brown taking on that role. As for Rico he will need to show his ability in the blocking game. Dallas took Shultz for this very reason and the same with Swaim and Jarwin. If you can't block at TE I don't see that player taking that spot

I question his ability to block and his knack for knowing who to block. He whiffed real bad many times in his limited opportunities last year.

I don’t think he is a good blocker but I think I could find a way to use him as mostly a pass catcher. He is huge and fast, I would use him to create mismatches and in the red zone
But I’m starting to wonder about the guy more than the player

In my opinion Brown is too small to play tight end for Dallas. They want big bodies that can block.

Is he a better option on passing downs than the other TE's? If so why not try him out? He graded out well on blocking.

My concern would be height at 6'2" and a QB at the same height. Taller targets are better.

novacek played te at about 235 pounds. noah, I think, is about 225. could he bulk up and be a receiving te? a hybrid kind of guy. it's possible. but not likely he' be much of a blocker against linemen. interesting premise.

Then you may as well just run 4 WR he is not a TE, his blocking on CB and safeties is good but not vs DL or LB, he just does not have that type of size to seal the edge.

I'd like the move if true. It was mentioned shortly after the draft that he'd possibly move to TE.

don't forget about #84 D.Wells..6'-4'' 256lbs..CouchCoach is absolutely correct about Hight issues. Beasley , Austin 5'-8'' TWill 6'-2'' Hurns 6''-1'
Daks targeting window is much smaller...literally

Agree but if they like him, that might be a way of keeping him. The guy had one incredible game in his college career so I don't know if he's got the goods.

No, I wouldn't think so but Novacek wasn't a great blocker on the los either. He could pick off LB's pretty well but he wasn't asked to block DE's unless he was on a double with the OT.

The question is could he handle getting open on LB's and blocking them?

As long as we're spit balling and I am assuming the OP is talking about passing downs and not full time, why not give Vander Esch at 6'4" and from what I've seen some nice hands and athleticism, a few patterns at TE and see how he does?

All of this speculation will end when Gathers rolls the rock away form the cave entrance and emerges. I was expecting him at Easter but he was a no show.

"Never has so much been written about someone who has done so little"...….Churchill

gathers rolls the rock...............lmao. i'm seeing the possibility for 6 wr's and 4 rb's this year.

Aren't they really high on Blake Jarwin? It's hard to tell fact from fiction with all the spinning but they don't seem overly concerned about the TE position.

Blocking corners and safeties are much different then blocking DL. Brown isn't going to block a guy like JJ Watt unless he starts injured

Me too and Austin is kinda this hybrid. I also think they're going to want to keep Bo, the shock of the draft for me was he was still there as I thought he was gone on the second day.

I watch a ton of college ball and every Bama game when they're not playing some JV team and Bo was just like OJ Howard to me. You would forget he was on the field and then he would remind everyone. And the rap on him is the same as it was on Emmitt, too slow. Not a lot of people ran Emmitt down and when Bo gets up to speed, he's a load to bring down.
