It would surprise me. First off, I can't pronounce his name. But seriously, watching him run back that blocked kick against the Giants, he did not look particularly fast. Miami let him go for a reason and you just don't give up on 1st round picks that quickly. CBs need makeup speed. I am already concerned Gilmore has lost a step or two in that department.

So far I like him. But I won't judge before at least half of the season has been played.

Way too early for such a thread imo.

Would it surprise anyone if DQ molded this former first round pick into a good CB that actually lives upto his potential? I am not betting against DQ. May turn in a quality trade...already showed up on teams.
We need him to mold quickly.

I'd be shocked, not surprised. And that has nothing to do with what I think about Quinn.

I'm just going to go with Iggy.

It would be interesting to see what Quinn can do with him. I believe he is athletic enough but there are a lot of CB's who can say that and go on to suck. Quinn has been with Nashon Wright for several years now and hasn't seemed to have got the light bulb to go on.

Another guy to watch for is Eric Scott Jr. Remember, this time last year Bland was a nobody rookie late round pick. He was taken 11 spots ahead of where the Cowboys got Scott btw.

True but Wright was not a first rd talent.
I am not going to pretend to know a ton about Iggy, but a team thought enough of him to use a 1. Yes lets say Iggy.. took me some time to find and copy paste his name.

I share that concern on Gilmore. He is a crafty technician at this point but he's not running down anyone.

He never really fit/gained the coaches trust for what the dolphins wanted to do under Flores/Boyer-same coaching style.

Dolphins defense was a lot of man coverage and cover 0 schemes the past three years.

Noah was drafted at a young age/raw but after 3 years it just never clicked. Every year they would say he looks better in the camps but then he would awol

Fangio came in this off-season which has run more zone schemes.
Part of me thinks the dolphins just wanted a fresh start/change of pace with Noah. There was never any issues of him with attitude or off the field issues.

I wouldn’t bank on it. Teams just don’t give up on 1st round picks this quick unless they are utterly convinced the player isn’t salvageable. If you read what Fins fans said about him they were all ready to see him gone (similar to how our fans wanted Joseph gone).

All things being equal I would have like to seen if Joseph could have turned the corner this season but obviously the Cowboys coaches/FO saw enough.

Eric Scott looked slow during the preseason games…

He is definitely a better fit here than in Miami. His strength was man to man press coverage. He wasn’t very good in the Miami zone schemes. What’s weird is that Miami traded him for another CB in Joseph who is also better in press and struggled in zone.

Why couldn't he do that with Jospeh then who was supposed to be even more athletic?

It was still a good trade. A former 1st round pick for a former 2nd round pick. Both needed a change of venue.
It may not have been giving up on a player as much as giving them a new start. A chance worth taking for both teams.

I will wait and see before saying both are busts. Though it seems like it for now, but I will give it more time.

Wright is still on IR for at least 2 more games (counting todays game) before he is eligible to start his practice window. Goodwin was signed to the 53 man roster, as Diggs was placed on IR.
Though Goodwin does not offer much at CB.
